just to add to that ...... It will tell you how many shares each market maker is saying they have , or are wiling to sell at that price.
once they have sold at that price they move out of first place in the queue of market maker sellers (so to speak) and re enter the queue at a higher price and more often than not much lower down the list of MM's ....
On the selling side Level 2 also shows you how many shares each MM is willing to accept at that price before they move off that price (sell all ) and rejoin the queue at a lower price and lower down the list of MM sellers ........
Basically working opposite to what they do in the selling
It might typically look something like this .....
