Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.

You hit the nail in the head. I spent a good deal of my life working with politicians and civil servants, this is almost certainly down to incompetence.
Exercise Cygnus in 2016 demonstrates exactly where the deficiencies lay. Insufficient ventilators, critical care beds, PPE and mortuary space. The report was never published because it was considered too horrific for the general public. None of the recommendations were implemented, and now we are living through the horror.
If you think politicians know what they are doing, think again.

I don’t think I’d be buying into any airline at present. I have a friend whose wife is a senior executive in a multinational news organisation. Normally her job involves flying a over the world for meetings and other events.
Now she can’t fly much of the work
is being done through video conferencing from home. Once organisations see how this reduction in expenditure affects their bottom line, and after the pandemic is over, I guess there may well be a significant reduction in business flights.
IMHO there could be significant changes to the way we want to live and work, most of which will probably be positive.
I’m retired and in isolation so just puttering around, watching the charts and this BB. These will be exciting times for us, patience is going to make some of us a lot of money.

Considering the isolation of the area, and Newcrest’s desire to get the job done ASAP, if anywhere has a chance of continued working Havieron is in a great position.
Realistically though, it only takes one critical supply chain elsewhere to breakdown, or one failure in medical screening and things could come to a standstill.
Personally I don’t see this as a problem. The gold isn’t going anywhere, and any temporary DUP in the SP gives a great opportunity for a top up in the new ISA year. The only ones to fret should be the traders, and any investors who find themselves with a pressing reason to sell.
Most of us can wIt a few more months if we have to. Patience will pay off!

What a great morning in this BB! Great to see the intelligent and really informative contributions from everyone. I am learning so much from you all.
I had to return from Canada a month early, and was on the last flight out of Calgary last Friday night. Followed the board all the time I was away, and managed a small top up to get me into 7 figures.
Now in isolation for 12 weeks, but really looking forward to learning so much more here. This BB is going to be one of the things that keeps me sane. Thank you one and all!

I’d agree with you on this. A really balanced view. No takeover bid until the true scale of Haveiron is established by an MRE. As much as I’d like them to make a good offer soon I can’t see it. They don’t truly know what they are buying, any more than we know exactly what we are selling.
We all get excited and talk about “what if”, but this is business where clear hard heads will make the decisions. Newcrest will want this as cheap as they can get it, we want the highest offer.
What I’d like to see is a bid for Haveiron, hopefully a big one if we have the amount if gold that we think we have. Personally I’d love to see that as soon after MRE as possible. Let’s have that money in our accounts first. The longer it runs, the more difficult it is to predict or even know all the variables.

Thanks for that, yes I do understand what you are saying, but the market is driven by the psychology of investors. The reasons will not matter if investors start to panic. Relatively small pieces of news like this have the ability to affect the markets at times of high instability.

This sounds like a poor attempt to calm the gold market. It smells just like the messages at the beginning of the banking crisis in 2007, when folk started queuing up to get their money out of Northern Rock.
It could be great news for us, but under these extreme circumstances you just can’t predict what might happen next.

JE or is it JR?
Please can we stop the outburst of Tourette’s like posts. They are really tedious, unnecessary and irritating. We’ve had some fantastic research presented by Paddy, and informed comments from Reddirt.
I have no problem with anyone forecasting an SP if it is firmly based on evidence.
Please don’t clog up what is usually a great board with baseless ramping. I always remember one of my old teacher’s favourite sayings, “empty vessels make most noise”.
Apples, great story but unfortunately not entirely as you told it. The comment was made to Bessie Braddock MP in 1946. It’s remarkable how these things get twisted and misplaced to suite a particular situation! Still a great quote though!

Agree with both your points. I doubt a **** down would be catastrophic, but it might lead to a significant delay. I’d be interested to know what precautions are being taken to try and keep the virus away from the site.

“These grades are amongst the most impressive seen in recent history and we are very excited about the potential to bring these ounces into production as soon as possible.” Sandeep Biswas said this week.
I don’t speculate on SP, although I do appreciate the efforts of those posters who do so by providing their calculations. To understand why the SP is falling with all this great news around you need to understand the psychology of the markets, and then be prepared to be greedy. I have no doubt there will be some great buying opportunities here in the next few weeks. How low can we go? Nobody knows, but I have no doubt that it won’t be long before the usual suspects start calling the bottom, alongside the 25p rampers. I’d love us to get there, whether or not we will is anyone’s guess.
When I see falls like this I see great buying opportunities. It reminds me of an interview I heard shortly after the crash in 2008. I can’t recall who the guy was, but he had invested a huge amount in Barclays Bank when the SP was around 30p and everyone and his dog were off loading bank shares. He said he considered it his safest ever investment, when asked why, he said that he figured if Barclays survived the SP would eventually go up. Asked if he had considered what would have happened if Barclays had gone under, he said, “It won’t matter anyway if that happens because that would very likely be the end of the financial system as we know it.” He sold out around £3 a share for a 10 bagger.
People like that guy are going to make a lot of money from this crash
My research, and that of others here (thanks Paddy et al) has led me to believe that GG is as rock solid as it gets on AIM, so still speculative, but derisking all the time.
I doubt now that any news will break through the fear gripping the market. Is an offer likely? How can you offer or sell when you have only a very rough guess what you are buying or selling?
In short, and in my very humble opinion, we will see no real movement or rerating now until the MRE is released, and I for one will be waiting for that and topping up when I can.
It is really disheartening, but I guess not surprising, to see people here turning on each other. In a world where folk panic buy toilet roll, I guess it is to be expected.
Anyway, good luck to one and all, whatever happens it will be an interesting ride.

This is an excellent article that gives Greatland and Havieron some great exposure!
