...The Namibian quoted sources from Singapore who said Tang was among businesspeople who were questioned for their role that led to the collapse of the three companies in October last year, and reportedly wiped out billions of dollars and left investors with heavy losses.
“These allegations were false,” Tang's lawyers Chris Brandt Attorneys insisted. “These allegations are clearly defamatory towards our clients Mr Tang and Polo Resources Limited and caused irreparable damage to their good name.”
The lawyers said Tang has never complained of fair, reasonable and correct newspaper reports.
“He, therefore, instructs us to call upon you [to] unconditionally withdraw [or] retract the said allegations made in the article,” they wrote.
The Malaysian businessman threatened to take legal action against The Namibian if the allegations are not retracted.
The Namibian hereby, unconditionally, retracts the erroneous allegations that Tang is being investigated in Singapore for fraud and that he was among key business executives questioned by the white collar police unit for the collapse of Liongold, Blumont and Asiasons.
