This Monday, 13 August 2018, took place in brazzaville the signing ceremony of the credit agreement of EUR 70 million between the French agency development of the pointe-Noire Autonomous Port. This funding will allow for the construction, extension and modernization of nearly 1000 linear metres of quays at depths of-12,50 metres including:
- construction of a 320 m multipurpose platform for the docking of conventional vessels
- construction of a 353-metre linear platform for the docking of conventional vessels and docking of a floating dock of 4000 tonnes for naval repair
- the creation of a 30 m length basin and width 13,50 m at depths of 5 M for 450 tonnes of vessels.
- the construction of 300 linear metres of quay to the west of the new mole for the traffic of bulk vessels.
- dredging of water access to-12,50 m.
The cost of this work is estimated at EUR 103 million, of which $ 70 million is available from afd and 33 million on own financing from of.
This funding is supported by a European Union Grant of EUR 30 million which aims at:
- the construction of a new fishing port to provide the Congo with efficient industrial and craft fishing infrastructure
- support for the implementation of sustainable management of the country's Fisheries resource.
- the guarantee of environmental management of of in accordance with international standards.
- improving port efficiency with a view to reducing the costs and time limit of the port passage.
The deadline for carrying out all work is estimated at 36 months from the start of the work planned for the first quarter of 2019.
At the end of the actual implementation of this project, the papn will have 4600 linear metres of docks compared to 3020 metres at present, an increase of 52 % which will help to cope with the prospects for changing traffic in Short and medium term, as well as the emergence of opportunity traffic, essential for the diversification and development of the congolese economy.
