AI could and should help Mano streamline their processes so it should benefit Mano. It will only benefit their competitors if there are new entrants to their market, which I think is unlikely. If however the IPs who sell their claims to Mano use AI to more effectively pursue and settle their claims before selling to, and as an alternative to selling to, Mano, that could have a material effect.

As you say, still drifting downward with more record lows. Nothing in the news, and nothing from Mano, provides an obvious reason. Hmmmm.

I am not an accountant. But I see a difference between a non cash provision against say goodwill and an adjustment to the value of claims which are a core part of the business. If new claims are valued over time in a way which creates a reported profit and then the value is reduced thus lowering profits, that would also be non cash, but would represent the ups and downs of the core business. I agree with the other comments, in particular on cash generation.

I do not agree with the comments on the UK judiciary which I consider unfounded.

That said there is litigation risk in all cases for many reasons including that the judge decides what they want to decide based on their analysis of the facts and the law.

I also agree that deep pocketed defendants may not simply roll over.

And fiduciary duties are a complex and interesting topic - just look at the current string of fully hidden and partly hidden commissions cases.

But our judiciary is in my view top notch.

I was just reading this judgement. There was an earlier judgement, when Manolete failed in their attempt to get their claim paid from the respondent’s pension. This further judgement decided that Manolete should pay costs of £85k to the not for profit organisation which put together the pro bono team who represented the respondent. Unusual for reasons set out in the judgement.

I agree that many directors of failed companies have done nothing wrong. But some do. There are numerous claims which can arise from an insolvency, not just around how directors pay themselves, and the more insolvencies the more potential claims.

The news on the appeal is just out.

No appeal of these claims may mean that other claims are more likely to settle.

I see DAF Trucks have been refused leave to appeal to the Supreme Court in the claim by BT and Royal Mail. Does that impact the Manolete cartel cases?
