Cement production is fairly localised due to distribution costs, and not every one of their cement works is located next to abandoned Sov oil wells. So for this to make a difference to them there has be some serious production planned unless it’s just green washing.

My only concern looking at the parent co Indorama Trading (UK) ltd is a pretty low profit to turnover ratio and cash in bank at hand is minimal so they can’t be throwing anything at the CC project. The question is, do they have a partner that does? Hmmm

Hiya Heps, I’ve no doubts there’s plenty of takers who want to offset the potential is massive and the local geology could be ideal for this technology but at the moment the research I have done points to the fact it’s very early doors and like most technological advances it’s very expensive to get in early doors. That’s why I don’t see a rapid deployment.

I’ll be very surprised if you get a rapid roll out of CCS currently. Development costs are high, some projects have stalled, who’s making a profit out of it at the moment? Going to need a big partner and they haven’t even established a carbon price yet?

Thanks for the info on the CCS. I think this will wag the tail of any potential farm in / buyer as it will also help their net-zero credentials, which any carbon extractor is under extreme pressure to deliver. Even better if they don't have to share profits as they do with oil/gas, I doubt very much the licence would cover CC. Happy daze.

Now I haven't researched this but I will do just looking for a quick heads up. We know both blocks are littered with the old wells where the Sovs plundered the low-lying fruit. What happens to the geology once they are capped, would the be suitable for carbon capture? Is it a case of hole filling or is it injected??
