Tesla & RockTech lithium hydroxide plant will create 24,000tpa of lithium hydroxide the only creation of hydroxide in Europe. Its next to Tesla Berlin which is planned to produce 500,000 cars per year NEEDING , yep you guessed it ALL the 24,000 pa of RockTechs production ! The only other planned hydroxide plant has basically sold all its stock already.

What about the other 32 .... 32....European Gigafactories ??? They have to import ALL the batteries or import their cars.

ANY news from ALK / TVL lithium hydroxide takeoff , imho, will be a TOTAL game changer. VW alone in Europe need, according to Vulcan, between 34,000 and 42,000 metric tonnes of battery-grade lithium hydroxide.
"Reportedly, the plant will create 24,000 metric tons of lithium hydroxide per year, enough output for some 500,000 electric vehicles. Keep in mind, Tesla recently projected that its Berlin Gigafactory will have an initial goal of 500,000 vehicles produced per year, though Elon Musk noted that it may take a year for the factory to hit full capacity.

Rock Tech CEO Dirk Harbecke shared via Teslarati:

“We are becoming the lithium partner of the automotive industry and are building our own, previously non-existent infrastructure for battery-grade lithium hydroxide in Europe. Our goal is to be the first company worldwide to create a close loop for lithium. Guben seems to us to be the ideal location for this, which subsidies also playing a significant role.”

Rock Tech shared in its press release that it will invest as much as €470 million (£400 million) on the German project. However, the facility won't be completed until 2024. The company will need about 160 employees to run the lithium refinery."

Musk invests where he will get big money grants. He , in the general scheme of things does not like to invest too much capital where possible so Tesla has a lot of debt, but he does put money in ie Germany & Shanghai !

Even with Tees Valley and Green Lithium producing Hydroxide at say ... 100,000tpy , the EU will NEED another 1,800,000 MILLION tons PER YEAR.

Alkemy Capital & Tees Valley Lithium are to supply lithium hydroxide to the UK & Europe - possibly the US in part of an investment/JV deal.

Eurooean Metals Holdings in Czech IS the single largest lithium supply bang in the centre of Europe just 300km away from VW / SEAT. Are they just going to sit and take @#£@ from China ?

Tesla in bed with Piedmont have just extended the agreement to purchase lithium/ lithium hydroxide from Piedmont. Piedmont part own Canadian Sayona Metals who go in to FULL production within 8-10 weeks at the NAL PLANT in Canada. Piedmiont also have 50% of production from Atlantic Lithium.
Looking at the location of ALL mine in Ghana shipping to the US Eastern seaboard , TESLA DIRECT on the US South Coast and OBVIOUSLY to Tees Valley and the internal ties that ALK have with Piedmont in my very honest opinion look blindingly obvious should see production of feedstock supply by 2024/25. Again 36 months not 5-7 years.

Building a processing plant on the South Coast of the US in the Florida - Texas bay area gives import possibilities directly from S America - Brazil a the 000's of millions of tons available and NOT owned by China.

There are ONLY 7 million shares in issue. Anyone pooping their pants at the vikings comments and selling will easily move the sp algo's to downgrade.

The only lithium hydroxide plant in Europe by 2024 or even the 2nd it is of no concern, the result is a haymaker punch thrown by any boxer on the bill, Tyson or A/O.

I suspect S Korea , Canada and the US will not simply give up with brands like Ford, Tesla, GM, VW in US near the high purity billions of tons of Canadian lithium, graphite etc...

Also do not discount the hold the US, UK , Holland, French, Portugese and German old colonies still hold regarding mineral wealth. Yes the fight is 85%nin favour of China today, but they have F all good lithium and rely on 70% imports to complete the current hold they have.

Fortescue has been exploring for lithium in Western Australia, South America and Portugal since about 2016 but has not discovered a project of material size.

Asked how the Fortescue Future Industries (FFI) clean energy division would source the lithium and battery minerals it requires, Dr Forrest said he ideally wanted the mining division to be the supplier.

“Fortescue Metals group is a fantastic explorer and developer but also acquirer of assets and as you’ve heard us say in the past, we will be taking responsibility as a mining and exploration company without many peers in success to deliver the battery metals and the future facing metals which FFI needs,” he said.

“The beauty of FFI is that it gives us a really clear view into the future of what [minerals] are going to be required by when.”

Lithium prices have risen more than tenfold over the past two years on strong demand and tight supply, but Dr Forrest poured cold water on the outlook for the sector.

“I am just not seeing a shortage, there is so many lithium projects we get offered, so it is just one of those things that is just not keeping me awake at night at all,” he said.

I was thinking Sigma from Brazil , but thats now more 50/50 with the politics anti commi / pro US. If pro US Bosalano somehow gains then i'd edge up the chance towards 70% chance.
Atlantic Lithium looking more towards a 70% chance in my view as plant and oroduction both tie up along with Piedmonts connections and EU intensions of supply. Atlantic Lithium dirt is extremely high grade at source and it has been tested to show that it does not need any flotation processing which is pretty unique. Sounds like the stuff of dreams for a processing plant.
Obviously Eurooean Lithium are already linked in Austria and also weak links to the sesspit emh with its Russian undertow which was supposed to be mining in 2021/22 and as yet still has no go ahead to mine. Plus its carp mica 0.4-5 ave content which will cost a fortune to drag out and the tonnage needed will be extremely high v Sigma and Atlantic.

So its WHO in Oz are they lining up and for me who in S America and Africa.

Either which way ALK & TVL will be in the mix.
