Well what a week. Now Plug Power have joined with Ozzie Fortesque to build a 2GW factory opening in 18 months , some time in 2023.
With NEL opening their factory now overdue , any news from NEL should get great PR as they hit the front pages of world hydrogen media - the advantage of being 18 months ahead in the game.
At the bottom of the article Plug Power have bought a hydrogen truck supplier, pipes and cables company. They will need time to cut costs and blend in.
NEL spun off HEXAGON COMPOSITES, AGILITIES & PURUS so already have NEL people and processes covering all angles that Plug Power are having to buy.
Example Hexagon Composites & Agilities have won over the last 2 months TWELVE Contracts to supply.

...have set out a total of 149GW of installed electrolyser capacity required by 2030, and a recent report by the International Energy Agency ("IEA") states that a global electrolyser capacity of 3,585GW is needed by 2050 to achieve net zero. As of September 2020, there was only 0.2GW of installed hydrogen electrolyser capacity globally

· The Group intends to use the net proceeds from the Capital Raise and existing cash balances to significantly scale up and expand its operations and for continued technological and corporate development to take advantage of the forecast exponential demand growth in the global green hydrogen electrolyser market

· £170 million of capex and £40 million of working capital to support the semi-automation of Bessemer Park, the development and a full automation of a second manufacturing facility in the UK ("UK Gigafactory 2.0") and a new international factory. In aggregate, these facilities are expected to give the Company 5GW of annual manufacturing capacity by 2024

· £50 million to fund technology initiatives, which are expected to achieve a 50 per cent. reduction to electrolyser manufacturing costs within five years, as manufacturing processes are transitioned to full-scale automation, a process which will be driven by its in-house scientists, engineers and ongoing partnership with Linde

· £45 million will be applied towards continued organisation and corporate development to further enhance its management infrastructure and the expansion of after-sales support and training capability.
The Capital Raise is subject to shareholder approval. The Group expects to publish a circular in connection with the Capital Raise tomorrow.

Introduction

ITM Power plc (AIM: ITM), the energy storage and clean fuel company, is pleased to announce its intention to carry out a non-pre-emptive placing (the "Placing") of ordinary shares of £0.05 each ("Shares") in the capital of the Company (the "Placing Shares"). The Company intends to raise total proceeds of approximately £250 million (before expenses) through the Placing and the Subscription (as defined below).

The Placing is being conducted through an accelerated bookbuild process (the "Bookbuild") which will be launched immediately following this announcement (the "Announcement") and is subject to the terms and conditions set out in this Announcement.

In conjunction with the Placing, Linde, certain directors and a member of the senior management of the Group intend to subscribe for new ordinary shares in the capital of the Company pursuant to the direct subscription with the Company (the "Subscription Shares", and together with the Placing Shares, the "New Shares") at the Placing Price (the "Subscription", and together with the Placing, the "Capital Raise") or via the Placing. It is anticipated that the total proceeds of such participation will amount to approximately £20 million.

The demonstration plant creating lithium hydroxide is now active and the rise prior to PEA is carrying on , so my gut says the next news will be just what they have created within 30 days say ? With 24-36 hours creation it will be intetesting to see just how much , grade and scale up ?

2 - The CEO quite clearly stated in September the closeness to the main ports on the Southern Coast of the US to supply lithium hydroxide to help with EUROPEAN requirements. Yes or No ? ;-)

Itochu Corporation and Nel Asa today (8th October) has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to create a strategic partnership in the hydrogen industry.

Both partners will jointly explore hydrogen business opportunities and develop tangible projects. They will also aim to expand the hydrogen business globally by establishing a production, transportation and distribution hydrogen value chain together with potential partners in each area of the value chain. In addition, the parties agreed to evaluate and explore each project and business opportunity together with Osaka Gas Co., Ltd.

In another development, today, Costain has been awarded the concept development and feed study for the HyNet project hydrogen storage facility in northwest England by Inovyn (one of the HyNet partners). Costain will undertake an initial concept study to demonstrate the requirements for importing, storing, and exporting hydrogen at the facility. This will form the basis of a targeted front end engineering design (feed) study package for the hydrogen facility.

The HyNet project is expected to play a significant part in enabling the UK’s hydrogen economy to create the UK’s first full chain, integrated low carbon hydrogen supply system of production, distribution network, bulk storage and consumption. The project will see the development of a hydrogen storage facility in the southern part of the Holford Brinefield in Cheshire, storing up to 1.3 TWh of hydrogen underground in salt cavities. Excess hydrogen will be stored for usage during peak winter periods.

NEL HYDROGEN & NIKOLA CORP
The agreements will allow the adaptation of the fuel-cell power modules for the Nikola Tre and US Nikola Two fuel-cell applications. Under the agreements, Bosch will supply both fully assembled fuel-cell power modules as well as major components to Nikola, including the fuel-cell stack, for Nikola to assemble at its manufacturing facility in Coolidge. The parties will work together for sourcing of remaining components for the assemblies.

Nikola and Bosch have defined together a scalable and modular approach for the Nikola Tre and Two truck applications based upon use of multiple fuel-cell power modules utilizing the Bosch heavy-duty commercial vehicle fuel-cell stack. The fuel-cell power modules are expected to launch in 2023, with the first application being the Class 8 regional-haul Nikola Tre FCEV. Nikola anticipates that the overall vehicle design will result in a range of up to approximately 500 miles. Nikola plans to further expand capacity for use in the Class 8 long-haul Nikola Two FCEV with an anticipated range of up to approximately 900 miles.

The vehicles are planned to utilize common fuel-cell power modules in 200 kW and 300 kW configurations. The fuel-cell power modules and components are being designed and validated for the demands of commercial vehicle power. The Nikola Tre FCEV will also be launched in the EU, utilizing the same fuel-cell power modules supporting vehicle manufacturing planned at Nikola’s joint venture with IVECO in Ulm, Germany.

Nikola Corp want 700 hydrogen stations across the USA.

$2 million per hydrogen station = $1.4 BILLION DOLLAR requirement to fuel just NIKOLA CORP. Then the maintenance contract that NEL will have for safety , after all it is hydrogen ! Extra dollars ???

NEL HYDROGEN GOES NUCLEAR ?? "purchase order for a 1.25-megawatt PEM facility or PEM order from a U.S. customer. Name still remains undisclosed but probably will soon be. The first -- this is the first ever nuclear to clean hydrogen in the U.S., and it gives us, obviously, a lot of great learnings. It has a massive potential for future scale-up, as you can do this in many other facilities. And here, we actually utilize the dynamic response of the electrolyzer to capture intermittent power of a nuclear power plant, and you would imagine maybe a nuclear power plant wouldn't have intermittent power, but obviously, you don't draw the maximum amount all the time, and you can't shut it down. So actually, at night, for example, you do generate a lot of intermittent power. The value of this contract is 2.6 million, and this program was supported by the H2@Scale program from the DOE, the Department of Energy, because they really feel that this is an area that has a lot of potential for the future."
