Yes but as time goes on the existing suppliers will be scaling up and additional suppliers will be entering the market. I agree that the market size for tests will increase, I just don’t necessarily see that translating into a higher market share for GDR.

When you look at NCYT, they took around £63m in revenue in the first 6 months of the year. NCYT was able to take advantage of the early phases of the virus and was very early to the market. They also collaborated with some huge, well known companies. The market is now a lot more crowded and so realistically we aren’t going to be matching those kinds of revenues unless something absolutely amazing happens. Unfortunately, GDR does not have a good track record of exceeding expectations.

So with NCYT having a market cap of £200m, how on earth can we expect a valuation anywhere near that?

Big Al, when you say that you think that we could be worth £300m, do you have the figures that you are using to arrive at that valuation?

What was it about this particular rise that made you think that it was going to be any different this time, other than blind optimism?

It shouldn't come as a surprise, news has been imminent for 2 months now and there has been plenty of drifting during that time.

It's fairly obvious why they did it so not sure whether you are being dumb or just acting dumb. Back in May, things were still quite volatile and unpredictable. Given the recent rise in the share price and the positive sentiment around COVID stocks, DB chose to raise cash because if things really did start kicking off then he would have the funds to take advantage of the situation. If things had kicked off and he didn't have the funds then that might have meant missed opportunities.

Obviously with the application of hindsight, it turns out that these funds weren't needed so urgently but I certainly don't blame DB for wanting to get the company in the best position to take advantage of any opportunities that might have come his way.

From what I can see we also seem to get 2 RNS's on days which end with a 0, so hopefully the news comes on the 20th.

Looks like the market is giving us a reprieve. With a bit of luck, we'll get some news shortly to help maintain this momentum. Without news, it will eventually start drifting back down again.

I don't see it finishing above £1 based on recent trading patterns. Still, treading water in the 90's is better there where it's been more recently.

Invest4theLT, as you have stated that 8m raise won't be enough, can you show us the figures that enabled you to reach that conclusion and then the board can help see if there are any mistakes/incorrect assumptions?

It's true though right? As we have been saying since mid May - this will not consolidate at higher levels until we have confirmed sales. Everything that has happened since then has backed that assertion up. If this follows the usual GDR behaviour then this will drift back down until the next spike. Who knows, it might behave differently this time but so far this morning it's not looking like it.

Safy, have we had any confirmation that we are able to scale up to 24/7 shift patterns? If we did that, we get 1.7m a week right?

There was an open question a while back as to whether the manufacturing process could be scaled horizontally i.e. be able to manufacture 20k or 30k per hour.

And as a reminder about that reminder: -

GDR can be less than others for two reasons. One, as you stated, is that we are undervalued and two, which you omitted, is that the others are overvalued. Regardless of which it is, in recent times GDR has not ever been on equal footing with either and there is no guarantee it ever will.
