I don't think China would be unduly concerned about the factories... it would be a massive blow to the West's economies and China makes over 160bn chips a year themselves!!
Their stated aim has always been to return Taiwan to the 'communist fold...
so it would still be a win - win as far as China is concerned.

As much as I like the Taiwanese people, I have seen first hand the ruthless efficiency of the Chinese, and in this case it really would be like taking a sledghammer to crack a nut !!!
I just hope that the US 7th Fleet is not booked into drydock any time soon !!

Even if Julius Baer is 'only' acting as a nominee and is using it's clients' money,
the fact that said client is happy to invest a significant amount in Syme is a good indicator of positive research and opinion!!
I would imagine that Baer's clients didn't amass their wealth through long shots or gambling !!
I am more relaxed and encouraged by this and quite happy that my 50m will be a good medium/long term investment....
Even if Syme only breaks into 10% of the target market this has the 'potential' to be my 2nd best ever investment (after the missus of course !!)
