Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
The directors are very poor at informing shareholders. When the profit warning was issued the share price collapsed almost 50%. Normally, a 20% drop is average. Were things so bad? Shareholders were never told. Only a month before we we told that trading was as projected. What changed? Remember, this share was trading at 150p.l I don't have any confidence in the board of directors. Gzelle: why were you impressed?
Shouldn't this have fallen today as it trades exdiv?
I don't think the results deserve a 5% fall. They are going to maintain the dividend payment, which must be an incentive to buy. Istock: I think your pessimism is overdone and too late. I'm expecting the share price to recover past 200 in the next 6 months.
Profit warnings are usually released after markets close to limit downside selling. All markets are being hit this morning by a triple whammy: Portugal, Egypt and China. I would imagine the dividend will be reduced.
Why the sell off today?
Look at the weather in the UK: It's a reminder that Man cannot control it. Money can be made here for the patient investor. Benjamin Graham said that a 30 % drop in a company's share price can be expected due to market sentiment.
The infection has hit the oranges and not the trees. There will be a 20% reduction in crop size and that will significantly affect results.
We build investment models and hope that the market will reward us. There are so many things that we have no control over. You learn more from your mistakes than successes, disappointments have to be accepted. However, as long as our successes are greater ...that's what counts. Regarding a place to live: i prefer Italy. The food and wine, also culture are more interesting. The mindset a bit lighter. Perhaps a retreat on Mount Athos might prove illuminating before you make a final decision.
I think your analysis suffer from a dysfunctional mindset. By that I mean negative thoughts and fear. Economic conditions are never permanent. That's why market sentiment is always impermanent. I think Rio is a buy at the moment, at it's current price. It may well fall below £3, in that case, i see it as an opportunity and will buy more. The share will be over £4 in a year's time. Earnings will improve this year and there will be no repeat of the massive write downs.
The gold price hasn't collapsed. It's trading at just under 1600$ an ounce. Gold miners are just out of favor. Remember when gold was trading at a much lower price and gold stocks were trading much higher. ABG has had poor management. I believe money can be made buying this stock at it's present price. Remember, money is made when everyone wants to jump ship.
Can someone explain to me why all the commodity stocks dived yesterday and rebounded today? The Chinese data was weak yesterday resulting in a sell off. Today, ?
Should i top up now or wait until it goes ex div? I see Investors Chronicle has a buy recommendation.
Why do you think it will be a takeover target? I think the gold price will be trade between $1400 - $1600 over the next year. i should have sold this share but trusted the management too long. They are dunces. One strategy would be to sell and buy Centamin as any good news there will see a lot of upside. Their production costs are also lower.
It might drift down after the dividend payment. If it does go to 27 then it's a great opportunity to buy. I'm encouraged by it's resilience today. It's not only a vote of confidence but it does put a smile on your face.
How much of this weakness is due to The Italian news or maket disappionment? Let's look ahead and see the positives. The accounts are very detailed and represent a clear picture of where this company is going. I think this share is a good investment over the next two years. It pays a good dividend and is well run. It isn't a share for day traders. Chill out and collect the dividends.
Could you go into a bit more detail please. Considering a purchase.
Can anyone tell me why is there such a large spread between buy and sell? At the moment it's 6%.
This company does nothing but disappoint investors. The management have proven themselves to be incompetent time and time again. Why would one invest in this? I can find no silver lining.
