@Teslo Amazon do not worry me at all. Classic example in my own patch is that they simply cannot recruit. People will not be exploited for pitiful pay when there are better jobs out there. They need to use our services when the going gets tough and coincidently when it doesn't. They are not a threat people are wise to them and end up with below minimum wage for a days work when delivering their parcels no one wants the work

There will always be letters from all over the world someone has to deliver them. Parcels is a growing market your not telling me anything I don't know. The competition are decades away from catching away and some will fall by the wayside RM wont be one of them

@Telso None of those mentioned deliver letters someone has to so whom exactly? As for their expansion Yodel and Hermes are in complete dire straits the others have such small market share they will take generations to catch up. So Telso of the millions of letters that are in sorting offices every day of the week who exactly is going to deliver them from the competitiors?

@Prince the drop in letters may be what you suggest and it may not be its amazing what they can do with figures. However the call rate has not dropped anywhere near that figure. So you may not be delivering 5 letters to an address it may be 1 but you still have to go up that path. Now they want LAT parcel deliveries these deliveries will tread the same paths a postman has gone up earlier in the day. Its madness and it wont work, why, because the traffic is simply not there. when you have an office hiring agency workers to perform this work over Christmas they were going out with 10 parcels. How is that economically viable and this was at the busiest time. I am not worried about the opposition they cant cope over their won pressure periods and they don't deliver letters. So if we go bust who delivers the letters? Someone has to?

They don't really care they are only interested in money and at the moment they are losing a great deal of it. Look at it this way.
They inherited an organisation when industrial relations were harmonious, a new blueprint agreement was in place and being deployed at pace on how we jointly face the challenges of the future. Poor culture in the industry was also being addressed as a priority and the share price was £4.96. In two years that progress has been lost. Workplace culture is worst than ever industrial relations are at an all time low and the share price sits at £1.78. Blame the CWU all you like but these are the facts, and they are without a doubt the consequence of the mismanagement of this industry. Take the CWU on and watch that share price nosedive, join us and watch it rise its your choice

Our nearest competitor holds 11% of the market. They couldn't cope with Christmas they do not have the infrastructure to take work. Yeah we will lose some work if IA takes place we always do but most come back because RM are the best. Rico and the board and corporate greed are the problem. You have taken over 1 Billion pounds out of this industry and you wonder why its struggling. You need to give your head a wobble

Just keep this in mind you can blame the workers the CWU blame who you want. the real culprits are the board and Rico who have run this industry into the ground and whose ideas simply will not work without the workforce being fully on board. So moan and blame who you want the reality is every single day the mail gets delivered the CWU and its members have not taken one day of industrial action.
