The Wall Street journal did report that, but Aramco refuted it and said it was not looking to buy crude oil from Iraq’s state oil firm. However, Aramco is pondering whether to send more non-Saudi crude oil to its refineries (operating under joint ventures outside Saudi Arabia), according to Bloomberg.


Saudi Arabia’s oil giant, people familiar with the operations of the two companies told Bloomberg on Thursday, after earlier reports had suggested that the Saudis were seeking to import as much as 20 million barrels of crude oil from Iraq.

The current turmoil surrounding the US repo market would suggest bond yields will be on the rise for governments around the world moving into 2020, meaning rising interest rates (gawd help Italy and the piigs and the eurozone). It will be interesting to see how that affects the commercial bond markets. If SXX has any way out, the best one will be with one of the big commercial FTSE100 miners, but that will inevitably mean dilution.

It's not so much Brexit, it's the current Slump in the world economy and the extortionate interest rates required for 'high risk' bonds. There's a lack of liquidity in the world, in other words, and junior miners are last on the list for investment, unless they pay a high rate of return for a capital injection.

No, 3p is rather low for a takeover bid. If investors who have averaged down or traded can get most of their money back, many will take that, as the situation currently stands. I first got into these shares back in 2015 for 7p and traded in and out. Got back in in a big way this year and currently down about 29%, and not buying any more. Was hoping for dividends in the 2020s, but realize that's probably a pipe dream now

BHP has been working on their Canadian Potash project (Jansen) for more than a decade, working it in stages. Their mining leases/permits cover about 10,000 square miles. Last time I read about the project, they had excavated two 7 metre diameter service and production shafts to their full depths, around 1,000 metres deep.

I will be surprised if BHP don't make overtures to SXX at some point, but they'll want their "pound of flesh", as you put it.

Early next year will see a pick up/revival in the world economy, according to a well-known forecaster's model, so all hope is not lost. Let's hope SXX have got 6 months petrol in their tank (before they run out.)

You're looking at the wrong place. The world's bond markets are ten times the size of the world's stock markets. The bizarre thing is that government yields are very low, and very fake wherever you go in the west, whereas the yields companies have to pay are pretty extortionate because they're considered high risk. Personally , I would say government debt is far more high risk in the medium to long term.

A partner will come on the scene. It needs to be a tier one company, though, which can ride out any liquidity challenges in the market. I wouldn't bother with government, because their debt levels are already way too high. Bond yields aren't going to stay low forever.

Only got a modest 'investment' here now, but with AIM you may as well burn 80% of your money before you hit the buy button for your average AIM company. No country is going to ban something that is currently vital and the lifeblood to their economies. Perhaps a Scandinavian country with a population of a few million will bite the bullet first, but not a major country like the USA or China. EV's will be phased in over time, which is essential for cutting pollution, but won't have much effect on climate cycles.

Johnson Matthey used to be Europe's biggest independent designer and manufacturer of lithium ion battery systems. I dunno what the situation is like these days though.
