The much-shorted Tesla has doubled this year. Shows what can happen when you get a short squeeze, followed by FOMO from others sitting on the sidelines. In Metro’s case, we should also get the kicker of reinclusion of FTSE250.

Nice to see a modest rise in MTRO this morning at least - given that the rest of the market has crapped out.

It’s hard not to excited with all the chatter going on here. And I know I said that Metro would be good strategic fit for GSAM as well as Marcus.

But I’m not expecting an RNS today. The announcement is going to be for a big new marketing campaign featuring members of staff, as the Guildford branch manager told me on Saturday.

I’m in big though, so would love to be proved wrong....

Peeps - I’ve just had a good conversation with the manager of Metro’s Guildford branch. Very chatty and happy to share what he knows. I showed him the tweet and asked him if he thought this was a product related thing, or whether corporate related.

Apparently neither. He’s reasonably sure it’s marketing related.

He thinks that on Monday there will be much flag waving to announce a new marketing campaign backed by quite a big spend. Apparently this will prominently feature five real members of staff.

I asked him if he thought the tweet might instead be related to corporate activity, but he doubted they is Luke approach such a think in that way.

Sorry peeps - it’s not going to be the announcement we were hoping for.....

My Interactive Investor account also sold at 106, but I’m OK with that as my stop was set at 108.

Dimi and Bugger - a friendly challenge to you both. Study this recent interview with the CEO of Auryn Resources and then tell me you’re still not convinced. AUG is small enough to be below the radar for most insti investors and neither does it get any broker coverage, but they have attracted a few key notable ‘in the know’ investors and no shortage of funding. Largely because these guys have achieved big success before with a previous venture. Their Sombrero project in Peru looks genuinely set to deliver big time in 2020. Expect a triple bagger return for AUG at least. Possibly as soon as end Q1. Just listen to the interview....

And then maybe do some more due dili by going to their website. There’s a raft of very detailed info there which I’ve asked my geologist brother-in-law to look at. He says this is very credible and very impressive....

In addition to FRES I hold one junior exploration company- Auryn Resources (AUG - TSE). Listen to any of the recent interviews with Ivan Bebek. Very compelling. I’d be interested to hear what others think....

Just bought a decent sized slug of this. Hoping not a falling knife. But defo won’t be if we can believe statement that outages won’t materially impact earnings....

FRES is up 2% today. I think this will do well....

Interested to know - from those willing to share - what percentage of your portfolio is MTRO? I’m at around 5%, which is pretty high conviction for me. (I’m newly retired and this my entire pot, so I can’t earn myself out of trouble). Nearer 8% for SUPP tho....

Creating a virtual online banking presence to rival the likes of Monzo isn’t viable for Metro. But a JV of some kind with a newly established player might be interesting....
