"Hi all, new to the group, want to see if anyone is in the same situation as me or can offer advice. My son took out an Amigo with me as guaranteur, he was strugling to pay then lost his job. Of course they expected me to pay (which I expected) but they were so aggressive with threats of court after the first payment was only 1 week late. So I took out a second loan in my own name to pay off the amigo one. A few months later we had a successful claim against them as it was clear my son could never have afforded the loan even if he hadn't lost his job. They paid out what they said we were owed (original payments plus interest) and I used this to pay off the second load I took out. Now, months later they are saying they shouldn't have paid out so much and are demanding it all be paid back (just under 5k) and have put the debt back on my sons credit file ??"

If anyone takes a look on the creditoras group there is an interesting post from a guarantor who ha received an email from amigo requesting money be paid back, looks like there are more ways to raise more for the scheme without a raise until lending ;)

James Blonde. I believe Amigo can still use the money to pay their bonds off even with VREQ implemented.

Stevie i think we will hear back from FCA possibly by this or next weekend, one of the next 3 weeks we will have Monday morning RNS detailing terms of new SOA and a practice statement letter. Then we will possibly squeak in a first court appearance before the end of the year.

The letter of non objection is a no go, i spoke to Gary about it at the AGM. The FCA have made it clear that they wouldnt give that. I dont think that its necessarily a bad sign, if Gary can just get the FCA to a point where they wont actively oppose the scheme in court. Which with almost enough to clear bonds Amigo be in a position to maybe pay them off and clear the "spare cash" then the position of SOA or insolvency is actually a real thing where Gary can just do managed wind down as mentioned in a possible scenario in the Q1 or FY20 results.

We will then be in same position as Provident went into court where FCA dont show up to oppose it.
