This happens via so-called ‘Triad’, which relates costs to usage in three winter periods when demand is highest. This has led to so-called ‘Triad chasing’, which has also led to market distortion because power plants generate despite having negative spreads to make sure they have low demand at Triad times. However, removing the Triad signal removes the incentive for embedded generation to operate at times of system stress.

The proposal by ofgem is narrow and clearly in the interests of a few big players. It is nonsense and I am confident that that will be proved . The national grid is extremely concerned by the proposals which are skewed against the essential flexibility which is being built into the system to provide permanent safety of supply.

Tricky one that. If they respond because of share price dropping but don't have a real reason or something substantive to say then it would be counter active. Hopefully they will have done positive news that us genuine and can't be interpreted as a "pump". Don't see why they would . They have always been responsible and clear in previous announcements.

Are you serious Alan? You called this right all the way up to 3p did you? It is back to the price you were ****ging it off a year ago because of an outrageous proposal by Ofgem. You know perfectly well that the asset finance is secure and only not announced because they are waiting until it is actually needed. If you were buying a car worth £4 million with a loan would you start paying interest by borrowing the money in March and paying 7 months interest fees? Your hatred of PPG knows no limits. This bearcast is way off the mark though . Let's all play the ball and not the man. The serious issue here is a disgraceful attempt by Ofgem to rig the market in favour of big dirty producers to get cheap short term energy and derail the sustainability of renewables . In doing so they they will in all likelihood cause power outages and discourage investment in the sector
