A longer term investment into Lloyds shouldn't be determined by waiting on the mind of Putin to be made up.
Only punts for the very short term need to second guess, if they (investors) want to play that game.

Lloyds currently just under 50p

if they had invested less in Lloyds shares then the dividend would either have been greater or they would have paid a special on top.
I am far happier with the large investment being made.

THEIR board have started their progressive dividend policy at 2p after taking into consideration the vast sum being invested in Lloyds shares.

What do you not understand. The BOD are investing a large sum in Lloyds in 2022.
as i have just said the starting amount of 2p would have come about because of the decision to invest.

Yes , you will find the number of shares purchased on a daily RNS.
Also yes - the number of shares to be cancelled this year will be huge.
It would take many years of staff scheme issues (paid for or not) to come to such a number.
I would like to see more buybacks in future years as well, especially if conducted at below asset value.

basically dividends are declared per share not an amount of money to be shared between the number of shares at xd.

The dividend amount PER SHARE has been stated at 1.33p.
Investors holding or or buying shares before xd will know the amount they will be getting.
A Dividend pot of money is not split between the number of shares in issue at the start of xd day. The number of shares in issue can as we know also go up.
So don't be silly.
