My portfolio is up by tens of thousands today.

I hold Lloyds at an average 20.78p

top slice at about 2316p

sterling has now dropped 2.5 cents from overnight. Cable rate does have a bit of influence. The MPC voting clearly indicates that further rate increases are on the way. The market worries about the balancing act between controlling inflation and the amount of slowdown in the economy.

as i said - you haven't a clue - the market is determining a value (market cap) for lloyds bank on a daily basis , based on the number on shares in issue and then reflected in a per share price. The cost per share at the outset of the share buyback was not increased by the market by about 2.8p to reflect the shareholder benefit when the investment is complete.
As in 2019 a buyback can be halted.

You haven't a clue - the investment in Lloyds shares are being made at an unknown future level and therefore an unknown number of shares will eventually be purchased, reducing the share count by an unknown exact %

I think most sensible investors would rather have over a £1 given to them for each share held, to do with as they please, rather than the cash remain in an account doing nothing. Aviva have no use for the cash - Many investors will have - some may decide to increase their percentage ownership of Aviva with the proceeds .

Oh dear - a good investment is purchasing at good price levels and selling some or all at a percentage increase that the investor is content with.
Unfortunately many 'wait' for an ever increasing value that never comes, and then simply watch it descend again - it is called greed. I do not 'wait' for ever increasing values, which means that I can repurchase on any falls that come about.

''DO NOT BUY THIS SHAT '' would be selling NOW, which means you are lacking something

I have an average price of under 21p - it is all about investment opportunity decisions - you must not to have taken the best of them, at times when they presented themselves. There are others that are in the boat of needing 60p+ to get back to a capital cost value , but many are relaxed about it,as I would be. Many will be content to collect some income in the meantime.

That is all down to your own decisions, if it cause stress.
There are people who are in real pain from no fault of their own , than that of someone who decided to put money into shares.

That depends upon the age and health of those that ''our'' is aimed at.
Personally I am happy to see the share price at a current low level whilst the investment in Lloyds shares is taking place.
