That would be good if retaining the same profitability - a market cap of £16 Billion with underlying profits of up to £8 Billion pa and able to return 20% pa to shareholders

I think you will find that if 50% of Lloyds shares were bought and cancelled my percentage ownership of Lloyds would double - that is a fact.
I would consider that I would have benefited greatly.

I think you will find that directors would benefit from a special payment, but rightly so. have decided it to be better use of the money by investing in Lloyds shares at well below nav.

The purpose of the share purchase programme is to reduce the number of shares.

So long as the benefit of increased NIM outweighs increased debt provisions, I don't care about the short term share price.
Lloyds mortgage book certainly shouldn't cause any sleepless nights for investors.

As an investor who will always have some Lloyds shares. I have no desire to see a much higher share price anytime soon, whilst Lloyds can afford to buy and cancel Billions of shares at well below nav.

A share purchase programme will not determine the valuation that the market places on Lloyds on a day to day basis. We saw very little movement in share price during the periods of virtually no purchases by MS.

This was someone in Lloyds investor relations who wouldn't have a clue about the algo software and how MS independently go about with the purchases of Lloyds bank shares using it or not as the case may be.
It appears just a personal view to try to fit in with what happened.
Unfortunately the response has no logic when matched with price levels on days of very little purchases. Either the price level on the day fits into the parameter or it doesn't.
We had a day where Zero shares were bought earlier on in the programme - this was most likely to have been because of being above a certain percentage above the average of the previous 5 market days.
