Look at the same time next year and using the above figure and the number of shares the 2023 buyback manages to take out of the market you can calculate the number of new shares issued in 2023 by way a combination of bonuses and shares bought by staff

and of course those purchased by staff

New shares issued this year by Lloyds will be from relevant schemes that are due to be paid out in shares this year

Why is that?
Lloyds have allocated £446m for staff bonuses.

When I first joined Hong Kong Bank, every staff member got a 10% cash bonus at Christmas. In those days that fixed percentage was paid each year regardless of the performance of the bank. These days staff bonuses are more aligned to personal performance and that of the bank. Llyods staff bonuses will be paid in cash,shares or a mixture of both depending on their position/contract.

The impact would be fewer shares bought with £2 Billion compared with last year.

A share buyback has little influence on the day to day share price levels.
There is constant exchange of shares throughout the day with prices that people are willing to purchase and sell at.
If Lloyds is to go higher in share price this year, it would have done so with or without a share repurchase programme. The same applies to a downtrend - a buyback wouldn't stop it.
The end result will be as last year, a number of shares removed from the market . The RNS to start off the buyback may well state that the sole aim is to reduce the share count.

Are your neighbours relying on you to contribute towards heating their homes as well?. That would be the case if they are out a lot with the heating off whilst you are working from home.

As I said earlier, that was DCB who has had over a hundred id's but I must have missed ID's if there were any prior to the last 2 used this week and after the last one I know from about 18 months ago which was 'zero_sum '.
Most of his last 80+ ID's never lasted for much more tn a day and sometimes went through two or three ID's in a day. Maybe he thought it would be different after such a long gap.
Unfortunately for him the true DCB reveals himself with the same repeated nonsense and use of words. It is a shame that some get taken in by it.

The only relevant info is that the market cap of Lloyds today is X and without last years share repurchase programme there would currently be over 4.5 Billion shares on the market that would have been in the calculation for today's the market cap.

I think it was DCB - who has had well over a hundred different ID.s and he did like to change the id slightly - he had his whac_a_mole series of IDs about half a dozen of those
