''With trifling sums of buybacks, the expected added 'value' to each share is easily lost.''
you were complaining about buybacks at BP near the end of April 2021 when the share price was at £3 , when using your ID. 'Croton' - I have not noticed you complaining more recently about them (unless I missed it). BP continue to gobble up the shares
If Lloyds undertook a minimum £2 Billion plus share repurchase programme each and every year the accumulated amount would not be 'trifling' and the effects would clearly be seen.
We have just started a 2nd year with a £2 Billion repurchase programme. If that continued for a further 9 years, that would be a total of £22 Billion, about the same amount as was paid out in PPI.
Current market cap is about £35 Billion.
