why is that? 8%% yield without future increases and would have benefited from capital appreciation. 9% compound growth in an investors share worth with reinvested dividends is easily achievable no matter what the share price. Less yield on reinvestment equals capital growth of already held shares, A drop in capital value equals higher yield on reinvestment.

This is the HFEL board not JDW.

I invested in Amazon and Apple many many years ago and made a lot of money.

I am not aware that HFEL have made dividend cuts in the past.
I have only been investing here for about 3 years so far.

it has also had a period of rising 22% during that time - share prices go up and down - whilst watching these movements, I will be happy with my getting on for a 9% income from them.

I repeat, the only share prices that are relevant are purchase and sale prices.

Last years buyback had a period where the algo was not in operation, so had a number of days with only a handful bought .
The spend at the same stage last year was about £140,000 more.
If the algo is allowed to operate every day then this years could complete about Aug/Sep time.
Of course the exact timeline will depend on trading volume and the constraints that may bring, the share price and the possibility of the odd day where a large daily increase in share price will halt the algo.

There were buybacks in 2018 and 19 with a combined spend of £2.5 Billion which largely took care of of additional listing since the formation of LBG.
there were no buybacks in 2020 and 2021. The real move to get the share count significantly below the end 2009 levels only started last year - so now about 25% of the way through a second year £2 Billion buyback programme.

UBS may have to wait until next week to reach the billion shares purchased mark, which will be comfortably below a cost of 25%. of allocated money.

Do you think that may be because £2 Billion share repurchase programmes only started last year?

2022 buyback paid about 44.4p per share removing about 4.5 Billion shares.

If 2023 total dividend comes to 2.9p that represents a percentage of over 6.5% of 44.4p.
if 2024 total dividend comes to 3.3p that represents a percentage of nearly 7.5% of 44.4p.

thanks very much for that - with your track record it means that Lloyds would be a good investment at the current level

It would be a little disappointing if the average Lloyds yield over the next 10 years based on the current price, isn't at least at the 7% level.

7% compound gets to about double money in 10 years.
2023 forward yield should be between about 5.5% and 6% and this with the large share repurchase investment taking place.

some people - it is a market where shares are exchanged -every buyer has a seller - prices at which shares are exchanged is determined by what a buyer is willing to pay and a seller is willing to take.
