Better to look at historic market cap rather than price per share when there has been a big reduction of shares on the market, and a continuation of a reduced share count on a daily basis.

current share price is about the same - hopefully if Bent goes back up, BP will follow this time.

Net debt as at 4 April 2009 was £1,296.9 million paying 6.3% interest.

Today interest rate is a little lower and debt level is lower

Interest rate on debt at the start of 2009 was at 6.3% - I believe the current rate is a bit below that

Debt can also get eaten away with inflation

Share price was at 130p pre pandemic.

Marstons should be receiving good income from its 40% stake in CMBC in the coming years, which when set up the stake was worth over £300 million (a lot more than the current Marstons market cap).

I am 100% certain that is not the case, as I sell in tranches, and indeed purchase in tranches allowing for subsequent lower and higher prices. Of course trading in tranches means that I could catch near bottoms and tops on a tranche.

Have no plans to sell a tranche of Shell until it reaches £30 plus. Last sale was on 4th November 2022 at about 2550p

I made the point of the 2018 price to illustrate comparison with the current price and at the same time reminding people that there are far fewer shares now, meaning the market cap is still way off of previous years highs.

The market had a slump on the 4th October. The ftse 100 has risen about 250 points since.

A share buyback or lack of, does not determine the market cap/share price on a day to day basis.

Of about 8% from the days low
