The question was ''What does this mean for normal shareholders'' to which I gave the sensible reply. The redemption of prefs does not affect the holders of ordinary stock in any way. It makes sense for Lloyds to tidy things up, with the increased share price in recent months meaning that the forward dividend yield is now less than interest paid on the prefs.

The amount being paid out for the redemption is small change.

These were also tendered for a few years ago. It is a tidying up process.

Maybe you think that if all depositors getting interest on their money withdrew it from Lloyds, that would also benefit shareholders (no interest to pay).

NO, the buyback programme is being independently carried out by Morgan Stanley, and they will continue to do so until such a time that the money has been spent, or time has run out, or the Lloyds BOD give instructions to terminate the buyback early.

An algo when in operation determines shares to be bought,determined by various factors and rules. Pricing and volumes being considerable factors.

They had 11 non buying days in a little over a 2 week period last year (july/aug)

They do not need an 'excuse' not to have the algo in operation every day.

The programme is to spend up to £2 Billion , by the end of the year.

I have said this many times, with nonsense responses from the usual suspect/s .Also obviously applies to an individuals purchases, which is why I topped up a number of times a bit above and below 40p in recent times, and at the same time posting that the total returns available at that time were 13-16% with once again the usual nonsense responses. Good that others also bought at those levels.

About a 10% total return is available at the current price,which I believe is cheap, but as usual the market decides the valuation of Lloyds on a daily basis.

A little at just over 444p , pushing up my average a little to 270p

# The only way NG's profit increases is if demand goes up. There will be a move to Heat pumps, but you could be talking 20 years before heat pumps outnumber gas boilers; They're also talking about blending 20% hydrogen with Natural Gas after 2028, with possible percentage increases as technology moves forward. Hydrogen production will probably become ever more important for powering trucks, heavy machinery, and as a substitute for natural gas, but it'd make sense to generate power for the hydrolysis on site rather than transporting it through the grid.

Common sense suggests that NG's profits will only increase if demand increases, since electricity generation equals demand

I am sure that someone could pick out a number of businesses that have performed a lot worse.

Investors should know when they invest in National Grid, what they are getting.

btw NG share price has gone up about 4 fold since 1996 with Unilever in the same period not even doubled, not that it matters for those that were not invested in Unilever.

if you took capital losses over 4 years ago but did not register those losses to offset future gains, then you cannot now claim.

If you have sold within the last 4 years to create a loss from assets that were bought more than 4 years ago, then you can register to use those losses to offset gains.
