You can't even complain about the sustained lack of investment in the NHS for the last 11 years & the fact it's been put 'on the table' in trade talks & the fact that Brexit meant the staffing of the NHS was further depleted without the Daily Mail gammons trotting out the 'snowflake' label as an excuse for poor governance. It used to be the fault of the EU that you couldn't get a doctor remember!

It certainly isn't well managed, i agree (& so does contact). It is however the most profitable in the area (South East). It's all well & good having a busy shop but if the product is not on the shelves, the product will not be purchased. I understand CARD are trying to cut costs but it seems to me (& those on the shop floor) that they are cutting their noses off to spite their face (or something like that( you get the drift)). The staff really do not have time to keep the place stacked with product & even though they are willing to put in the extra hours to get the place as it is MEANT to be, they are being thwarted by the rigid 'hours'.
I would have thought paying the £80 for a couple of hours extra work on a Saturday/Friday evening to reap an extra £1k per day was well worth it.
I think CARD need a 'secret employee' from management to spend some time on the shop floor, it would pay dividends ( literally!)

In conversation last night, the staff in the local shop stayed late Saurday to fill shelves ready for Sunday (as it is near impossible to do when the shop is full of customers). This took 8 man hours in total (minimum wage x 8). It generated an extra £1k in takings on the Sunday.

Yesterday they were told there wasn't enough 'hours' to have done this (they are allocated a certain amount of hours each week) & so will be taking hours from next weeks allocation to cover the late Saturday.

They will not be able to work late.

I'd be really peeved if i were a shareholder & would certainly be asking questions of the management as it makes absolutely no sense to me (or the family member involved).

I too have a family member involved. 'Larger shops are taking around £4k a day, smaller ones £2k, busier than last year (obvs) but not as busy as previous years'.

Hope this helps in some way. These are just off the cuff comments & certainly not definitive figures. The shop involved is the biggest group leader in the area BTW.

I've never worked for Card Factory or even purchased a product from CARD. I obviously know more than most here about the daily running of the show though.
As for 'I have never,ever,ever known a single fast paced retail organisation of any size....ever...to have enough staff.... etc' care to explain why far more staff were employed in recent years to do precisely the same job? No self service tills at CARD is there?
I'm just giving holders a peak into the daily goings on. I couldn't give a monkeys about the company (& i have no interest in investing & i have never shorted in my life).

Good luck, i hope it all goes swimmingly. I just think it's a real shame that the show isn't run better. BTW, my local place didn't have a card fill today. Nobody had time!! That's a fact, whether or not you believe me, i really don't care.

I know more than most what goes on in Card Factory. E.g, the shop staff have all been busy making 'boards' which are to be mounted in the backroom areas, on which they have to pin their photos, list their aims & decorate. A prize for the best decorated! Great stuff! All in their busiest period. Bound to help sales, the staff are ecstatic! I also know the shops are understaffed (even with Xmas temps that don't even know the job) & those staff are being asked to run the shop with half the staff of just a couple of years ago. Staff are unable to keep the card racks filled (No, the shelves are not full) as there simply isn't enough staff to man the tills & see to deliveries & keep the shelves stacked. Hours are kept to a minimum & after hours shelf stacking is a RARITY as the hours are simply not there. This is the reality of Card Factory & i could go on (thousands of pounds worth of stock BINNED by mistake anyone?) Management hasn't got a clue what the reality of the shop floor is. I know CARD are not alone in this regard. Simply put they should have staff for the tills, staff to sort out deliveries during the day & then staff in stores after hours loading up ready for the next day. It's your business that is suffering. GLA

The shops are poorly run & chronically understaffed. No time to refill shelves leaving said shelves depleted & well understocked. Shocking wages on offer also. This could & indeed should be run so much better. Why Card Factory do not have out of hours shelf stackers is beyond me. Staff are left with the impossible task of serving customers & trying to keep product on the shelves whilst shops are full of customers this time of year (by far the busiest time & indeed the time when CARD makes it's profit). A really poorly run business. It should be so much better!!!

Well, i'll be the first to say don't come to me for investment advice. Well done holders. I was thinking there would be a cashing in of profits on the release of the update & thought i'd jump back in when it had settled. I have the Naked Trader to thank for that particular plan... ah well.

..& don't forget Parliament was not allowed time to study that 'great deal'.

It is indeed the UK that have reneged on the 'great deal' that saw Johnson gain power. That very same deal that is now not very good at all apparently, according to Johnson. There is talk of a deliberate attempt to by the Tories to collapse the trade agreement as Northern Ireland are doing very well out of the situation & we need the EU to be viewed as the latest bad guy the Tories are saving us from.

We'll see how they do if the EU tells us to shove our trade agreement this week...

I think this is due to be mentioned in Investors Chronicle this week as part of the AIM 100. Pretty sure it'll be a firm 'buy' from them.
