I have been buying a few over the last couple of weeks and now have my finger poised above both the buy and sell buttons as I suspect the imminent results may move the sp significantly – the question is In which direction ? Whilst I am not claiming that the resolution of the Promenda debt and the sale of Babilonas Shopping Centre, in Panevezys, Lithuania which was placed on the market a while ago, will allow enough cash to start a buy-back and 10-bag the sp back to close to the NAV. I am also not claiming that the reinstatement of the 5p dividend (cost 5p * 232m shares = £11.6m vs H1 profit * 2 = £11.82m or H1 net profit(before tax) * 2 = £16.88m ) would see a yield of 34% I also dont see an obvious buyer for the company even at half of NAV resulting in a five bagger once the Promenada debt is renegotiated. But I do feel in my waters that something good will happen. The bank loans seem to be independent so if Promenada cant be renegotiated the downside is limited. This is a complex one to get to grips with (which no doubt puts many off) but it looks to me as if the sp could move significantly once the outcome of the Promenada discussions is know and the annual results are published (28th April last year). They should then be in a position to move forward with the objectives of the strategic revue from 30th October: Following the announcement by the Company on 22 October 2008 of a strategic review, the Board of Carpathian confirms that

Management seem good at communicating and wise enough to have covered the Interfukt rental income with Insurance which has recently paid up for 11 months rent. There appears to be a heavy bias towards properties that are currently producing an income rather than property development. Weiss Capital LLC have been increasing their holding recently. The dividend had recently been reduced to 5p as a conservative measure, but suspended after the loss of Interfrukt which accounted for 8% of the companies profit. This would have given a yield on todays sp of 34% ! A strategic review was conducted in Oct 2008 and as recently as 24th Dec It was said that “discussions continue with parties interested in either making an offer for the entire Company or certain assets within the portfolio” Although things seem to have gone a bit quiet on that front recently. With 2008 results expected around the end of April, hopefully we will see answer to many of the outstanding questions and an update of the strategic revue. Certainly not as sure a thing as TRC but trading at a 89% discount to NAV there is an awful lot of potential upside. A difficult and complex one to understand properly but IMO worthy of study and I would welcome the views (positive or negative) of more savvy Fools as to the situation.

Also a trade of 500,000 shares at 3p but not drop in the sell side sp so the market makers happy to mop up especially when the trade after is at 3.14p and as I said earlier I got a price of 3.16p on a dummy trade. mm's still in the same line up. buy 4,1 prices 3p, 2.75p sell 1,4 prices 3.25p, 3.5p

since my last post there are now 5 mm's sat at 40.5p seems the mm's are think this has risen enough today in my opinion last trade was 1,204 shares at 40.46p and one before that 40.475p for 902 shares. I'm tempted to say they dont want a quick rise on this but that is probably swayed by the buy back knowledge.

40.5p 4 mm's sat there showing 120,000 shares against 1 mm at 39.5p with 30,000 shares the 40p got taken out with a buy below the ask for 28,973 shares at 39.975p seems a bit strange.

The sell and buy price have be the same all day sell 13.75p buy 14.5p it is just a case of the last trade been a buy at 14.5p for 3,000 shares. trades so far buy 69,599 shares sell 33,300 shares unconfirmed 0 shares at the buy price there are 101,860 shares showing on the sell price there are 99,300 shares.

I see what you mean still above the 33p sell price so thats a good sign.

live prices sell 39p buy 40p cur 39.5p up 5.3% mm's buy side 1,2,1,4,2,1 prices 39p, 38.5p, 38.25p, 37p, 36p, 33p sell side 2,2,3,3,1 prices 40p, 40.5p, 41p, 42p, 44p I see 40p as a stumbling block at the moment with the possability of a drop to 38.5p Trades so far buy 221,537 shares sell 8,064 shares unconfirmed 0 shares.

I got curious about the trades today so did a dummy sell and got quoted 3.16p which is above mid so the selling will show as a buy that said it shows the mm's are willing to pay a higher price now why would they do that :-)

My apologies I should have looked myself I will not be so lazy in the future. Can't buy only get neg trade for 5,000 shares so will use spread betting on a long. Thanks riddler.
