Russia drills have finished

British Airways is to resume flights between London and Sydney next month for the first time in nearly two years.

The carrier, which has not flown to the Australian city since April 2020, will restart services from Heathrow to Sydney on 27 March.

BA said it was restoring the route after the Australian government announced the reopening of its border to international travellers from 21 February.

The airline’s daily London-Sydney service will depart Heathrow at 9.25pm for arrival in Sydney at 6.10am two days later. The return flight, starting on 29 March, leaves Sydney at 3.30pm and arrives at Heathrow at 5.10am the following day.

British Airways has introduced further stealth price increases in the cost of Avios redemptions as it raises the ‘taxes and fees’ element on Club World seats.

The price increase is not standard across the board. The biggest jump I have found is £113 return, with other routes ‘only’ seeing an increase of £60.

Scotland's private sector saw growth pick up at the start of 2022, according to the latest Royal Bank of Scotland PMI®. The seasonally adjusted headline Royal Bank of Scotland Business Activity Index - a measure of combined manufacturing and service sector output - pointed to an eleventh straight monthly expansion in output in January, rising from 52.7 in December to 53.7 to signal an accelerated pace of growth that was solid overall. Services continued to drive the overall upturn while manufacturing output fell again, albeit at a slower pace. A further rise in new business supported the overall upturn during January, while business confidence hit a six-month high.
