I haven't paid much attention to Cruz (assuming he's CEO) I thought the front man for the strategy was the chairman (W Walsh) I had a scan through the the last few years annual reports some while ago ... understood very little, but from the titles and intros it feels like there has been a consistent strategy and that it was aimed at dealing with the competitive threats posed by the low cost offerings. I think the low cost strategies attacked mainly the short haul market? ... not got a firm handle on the eps numbers but I read from another poster that Iag was cheap by Benjamin graham metrics i.e. PE ratio sub 10 and I think they are about 7-8 with revenue growth hopefully translating to further profit growth? ... Ryan air and easyJet I think are trading off higher multiples and are favoured by most as a matter of tradition now but perhaps there strategic edge is blunted as Iag has adapted? .... lol hope this waffle makes some sort of sense!

There was a thing on radio 2 some months ago about arguments between passengers over reclining seats getting rather out of hand from time to time, so setting them at a fixed position for economy class on short haul may make a fair bit of sense... thanks for the other links; will try to make some use of them eventually... the CTK measure 5 thing seems to be as I guessed, thanks.

That was very helpful, I probably should have realised the (m) in "2:- "Revenue Passenger Km (m)" " stands for million. So for example it means that in 2017 IAG customers flew over 250 billion kilometres in total. Not convinced ive managed to interpret measure 5 correctly ... Sold 150k @ 13.1p ish ... very much exceeded my expectations, but I have no idea what the real value should be given the tax cuts, which seem to be the driver of the price rise today ... or more pricisely the company's statement about these tax cuts to improve revenues in due course. ... I thought the tax cut was already known ? ... although no attempt to factor it in was made by me. ... the machine took em off me in one lump ... which is unusual!

I understand this ... IAG had nearly 105 million passengers in 2017 (up 4% ish) 2:- "Revenue Passenger Km (m)" ... I do not understand this ... but there were over 19 thousand of them in December taking the 2017 total to over a quarter of a million and that was nearly 4% more than in 2016 ... oooh! 3:- "Available Seat Km (m)" ... I do not understand this either ...but there were nearly 24k of them in December taking the 2017 total to over 306k which was 2.6% more than 2016 4:- "Passenger Load Factor (%)" ... I might actually understand this one after all ... it is measure 2 divided by measure 3 expressed as a percentage ...for 2017 the value was 82.6% and in 2016 it was 81.6% ...actually I think I don't understand this ... does it mean they had more passengers on each plane or that they had some passengers on some planes for longer or ... or ... whatever? 5:- "Cargo Tonne Km (m)" ... I DONT UNDERSTAND THIS !! ... but there were 308 more of the buggers in 2017 than the year before. *** COMMENT *** irritatingly interesting!

For comparison trinity mirror (TNI) has a pension deficit from 2016 accounts of over 4 times annual earnings.

Interims show deficit down by about a third ... but note 18 says dispute over discretionary increases not going well and not reflected in accounts ... with appeal to take place mid 2018

Had a bit of a look at note 32 to fy16 accounts ... circa £25bn fund with deficit of nearly £2bn ... looks like that could put some drag on shareholder value upside? ... deficit roughly equates to 1 years earnings + saw mention of dispute over "proposed discretionary increases"

The contingent payments appear to be up to 1.3p a share every 6 months for up to 3 years ... I am not sure I've got it right but I think it may be plausible to add this to the underlying eps numbers ... taking them up to circa 14p a share each year, although 2.6p of that won't flow to the company for another 2.5 years.

Sold at a bit under £1.12 ... no idea wots going on just taking the money😊

1300p ... hopefully the next set of accounts will justify more optimism ... it would be nice to have an easy to justify £20+ target ... it would not be so nice to have a difficult to justify £10 target or worse if that's possible?

When I started posting on this board I had an average of somewhere around the £7.50 mark, just reviewed my dealing account history and it is now £8.63 ! this kind of trading performance is unsustainable, lol I will be beggared! I think I need to experiment a bit with sitting still.

Bought 2.5k @ £6.40 ... don't know the share we'll but think it's cheap? And possibly a fundamentally better business than EZJ & RYA which I think trade off higher PE ratios?
