ran out of space Finally after years of modicum trading success I believe I have finally found a consistent strategy to increase my wealth, with thanks to Bigalow and the T LINE, candlesticks, the woman who introduced me to EMA54, the webinar exposing the reality of retail traders, Nick Bentico who explained how to establish support and resistance, doze and my wife. Time will tell. glita

Good morning flexmw. Very good question. One has to adapt to the current market at the time of trade. For example markets rarely trend in one direction going up down all the time i.e. range trading even within a single candle. That is what my system is based on. Taking small movements in my favour before they evaporate, sometimes within the same candle even a minute one. 1 minute can be an eternity when trading in a volatile market. So it boils down to a feel for the market but generally if price moves 5 points against me I create a straddle to stop the loss getting bigger and then wait to cash in each trade as and when in profit. Therefore if the trade goes wrong instead of crystalising the loss just take out a trade in the opposite direction. That stops the loss getting bigger because as the loss gets bigger it’s offset by the opposite one's profit. Then it’s a waiting game to cash in the trade in profit and wait for losing trade to reduce or retrace completely. This can get hairy as in the case of my big mistake through lack of discipline if price moves off on a big trend move like the other day see my blogg on the 13 Jan when IG closed out 3 naked £2 a pip trades and crystalisesd £1.6k in losses. As I said in the blogg I could have prevented them being closed out by taking out trades in the opposite direction, but I was not monitoring the trade. Also if one has a limited fund do not take out too many straddles as one may end up having to add funds to close a winning trade out. I usually limit the straddles to between 3 and 5 at any one time. In this case I had a losing aim share in the fund which had depleted funds available for trading. MOST IMPORTANT as doze has picked up on it. On IG ONE MUST TICK THE FORCE OPEN BOX BEFORE CLICKING DEAL, otherwise it will net off against an opposite trade which may be in loss. Again most of the profits are small just a few taking advantage of around 15 pip trends. PS. That last trade on my main fund was almost perfect. entered soon after ema54 breached closed out when price closed above the T LINE BLUE EMA8. Missed the previous very sweet long between 5 and 7pm as was having my dinner and quality time with her in doors. glita

Good morning doze.Even with small stakes one has to be very careful if trading without stop losses AND not monitoring the trades. Example below of a grand child's fund £2K. 3 Small straddle trades taken out on Euro/usd £2 a pip on jan 10th. Was making good progress but yesterday made 3 very important errors. ERROR 1.As I was not trading and doing sa work did not bother to check for major news announcements. see below ERROR 2 Took out a naked further short at 8.10 am ERROR 3 As bets were small had been left with 3 losing short bets from the straddles and the above naked short without stop losses and no counter long bets in place in case market took off as was convinced price would drop.BIG MISTAKE. IF I had been monitoring the trades I would have had the option to take out 3 'force open' longs and additional longs following the trend. SO STILL NOT DISCIPLINED despite new year's resolution.This is why 90 per cent of traders blow their account. On a brighter note had 3 quick fire winning trades on my main account between 8.30 and 9 am. guess what happened. Sod's law.Price took off north almost immediately after 8.10 am and after major news item at 1.30 and again after london se closed. closed dealing platforms after the quick fire trades as busy with accountancy work so did not see warning emails that my bets may be closed off if additional funds were not introduced. chart and trades below. Good morning doze. if tempted practice using the demo first and treat the demo as if it were real money winning and losing, most important. very different emotionally when trading live with own money. example close up shot of EUR/USD non farm payroll from Friday comparing it with trading the EMA54 longer term nonfarm payrolls using a straddle 30 pips up and 30 pips down in 30 minutes but realistically say 40 pips captured. day trading using EMA54 for entry and exit = 23 pips in 11 hours then compare the day trading longer term result with multiple short term which produced £10,760 at £100 a pip = 107 pips. This is contrary to that video which said the big boys take several long term positions . However the same video also said the big boys take/cover all retail trades which means on day trading they too are taking multiple short term trades in a day, which helps Goldman Sachs have only 30/40 losing days a year every year. EURO/USD DEMO STRADDLE UPDATE. Decided to stay with it when LONG STOP PROFIT LIMIT GOT HIT £860 PROFIT.Switched to 1 minute chart and took out further shorts using EMA54 for decisions. Have now closed all trades after 2 hours of trading and crystalised originak straddle short with £420 loss net profit £2,820 IN 2 HOURS. SUCH A PITY THEY WERE ONLY DEMO TRADES.
