Hi Anon, and all... Regarding your comment......
"All I know is homelessness was unheard of the 70s and everybody who wanted a house pretty much had one, at much more affordable prices than now."
A controversial and to some, a radical suggestion, is that for multiple Decades now, we have been allowing anyone and everyone into this country, to chase “Growth”, but real Growth is not created by bringing, just anyone. It needs to be Targeted with very strict requirements to be met, with very strict regulations and requirements on their contribution to the system and Economy.
Don’t give me, “oh but the NHS would be on its knees without Immigration”, because the NHS is already on it’s knee’s, and that’s partly because we give too much away for free, to too many..
This country needs a revamp and chasing growth by going for the top line numbers has crippled the trust of the population, the finances, the NHS, public services in general, Fresh and sewage water capacity and damaging our countryside by building houses for all those that “ Growth numbers “ of generic people allowed into the country.
Real Growth is not achieved by having more in quantity, Growth is created by quality, a strategy, safety, and security.
Some, or most of you won’t like it, but this country needs a severe cull in it’s population, I’d say 10% for starters, then you’ll see a nice rebalancing of the housing market, bringing down rents for our own people, allowing our youth to gain their own property to start a family, something that is getting worse..
Once 10% of the population has been removed, there will then be lots of jobs to fill, and all those claiming whatever Benefits they are claiming for Mental Health, are given a Gym Membership cancelled benefits and a demand to get a fecking job and some support in the short term to get them back to reality of the how the real world works.
