UK didn’t just import skilled workers, we imported as many as we could. Population was low, especially after WWII, so we needed to repopulate, especially with cheap labour. Apart from the UK Historically being R@c!$t and slow in accepting, accepting after a generation we did and the Windrush generation integrated well into society. The Muslim culture is a completely different beast and does not fit into our ideas, faith or society as well.
So that increase in population resulted in stresses on all sectors of the economy, schools and health.
What we did build, we built with poor materials which has come home to roost because the can was kicked down the road rather than sensible politicians investing in our country. Instead everything has been sold off and we’re left relying on other nations still. And this year as Gunsup states, could well be the next Scamdemic due to food shortages self inflicted because European Farmers have been shafted. All on purpose, all self inflicted. That’s without any Mega Cyber Attacks on the Western world. Maybe we need to start taking weekly screen shots of our investments and holdings ??
We are now minnows on the world stage but Starmer has travelled to the NATO summit, trying to state and give the big’en that UK is still an economical and military powerhouse, pfffft. All while China and Belarus are holding military drills and preparations 2 miles away from Polish / NATO borders. It doesn’t look pretty to me.
