It takes 6 odd %, so he changes the Narrative to state it's a good day for the buybacks.

But LTI has to write something, he's nearly at 30k posts.. Keep going LTI. How many posts will you need to reply to this 1 ?

A feeling the the UK government are missing a trick with other nations still ramping up on profitable Oil, yet we’re closing it all down whist subsidising Green Energy. A lose lose imo for the countries finances, and it will be us that will pay eventually with higher taxes for it all to work.

not sure if you're LTI's Minder, I've never engaged with you before, so not sure why you're so keen on my thoughts and comments. Buy Backs........

They allow companies to re-issue share awards when times are good, shareholders don't bat an eye lid, because times are good.

I'm not totally against Buybacks, never said I was. They are needed, because companies keep awarding more shares out. A Special Divi, is considerably more rewarding in most cases. I'd be a Pig in poop if I saw more Special Divi's ( To REALLY reward and create share holder value ), along with smaller Buy Backs.

My belief would be no change, or minimal to SP's, take a look at BP as an example, being at the lower range for a few years ( Easily £1.00 away from where it should be ) but they've spent a big chunk on BB.. That money has been well spent hasn't it

The Market decides the value of LLOY and that can go up or down as you’ve just pointed out, so you can not sit in your room tap tap tapping your calculator with the division button vs amount of shares at any given date. You did this with BP the other day as well, stating without buybacks it would be 360p

Any sector is in line for a Windfall tax, because we have a Labour government, and because the previous government tried to stitch up the new Labour government just before they left, so they could moan about Labour for next 5 years.

They’re all as bad as each other, rather than a collective togetherness in politics to do what’s right for the next 50 / 100 years, they’re all for the here and now.

So watch in the next few weeks, a wave of Windfall taxes for businesses ( share buybacks are not safe either ), and individual stealth and pension taxes.

They are coming, and the resulting turmoil will be felt for years.

lontimeinvestor is always banging on about buybacks being a return to investors, absolute foolish some of the carp that he writes about %'s and returns to shareholders via Buybacks.

Unless the money is returned to shareholders via a special or increased Divi's, it does nothing imo and should not be included in any calculations of share holder returns, until it's clear the Buybacks has increased the SP. Which it invariably does not...
