I've left my short open on Brent... Was seeing a crash earlier this week (even though the chart has it trading in an upward channel). Anyway, I suppose we'll see soon enough how long today's good news holds out... I was hoping to chase it down to below $100, but now thinking of closing if it drops below 111.5 again... Decisions, decisions!! Can't help noticing how cheap a £200/pt long would be on the old nemesis is at the moment - compared to the crazy days of last year anyway... Does your crystal ball give you any inkling of what sort of time scale fortunes could improve here? (I may cash in on Brent and have a little punt if the timings right)

5000 came sooner than I'd expected...

Looks like you called the 100 dead on last month (8th / 9th July) ! I take it you're short there? Are you bailing this week or are you thinking of riding it down to 5000 ?

Here's my thinking... 1. Debt finance not an option - they have no oil 2. Low share price would make placing unattractive option - but seemingly most obvious. Moving the SP north prior to any placing would be challenging I'd imagine. (If they know people who can do this I wish someone would give XEL their number!) 3. Big player(s) keen to buy Sea Lion. If it could be proven that the Sea Lion structure now "known" to extend into Des's acreage was oil charged, may offer to buy this acreage. This possibility seems extremely remote however... 4. Farm in. (You've already said you don't think this is likely.) 5. Something totally unexpected, like a certain Greek billionaire privately financing it. (Although if he did things like that he wouldn't be a billionaire for very long!!) Am I missing a trick here?

I've opened a very modest long in our old Nemesis (I'm probably genuinely mad given the small fortune I've blown on AIM oilers in the past 9 months or so!)... Any "guesses" as to how they are going to finance the caper? A placing at the current SP would clearly have a significant dilutive effect and I see from your recent posts you've already bought lots of actual shares...

Appreciate the heads up, but I think it's game over for me... DES wiped out my trading fund and like some idiot who just doesn't learn over-exposed myself to XEL too! Have a negative margin and not too optomistic the BoD are going to do anything immediate term that will restore the SP, in which case those positions are likely to close out and there'll only be pennies left in the pot. On the off chance XEL doesn't go t1ts up for me this week, I'll be all ears, but the way things look right now I'll be doing over time for the next 5 years or so and steering clear of the AIM casino that has outplayed me well and truly!

Take over in the pipeline for MONI ? Stake building underway - Goldman client bought 6.5M shares yesterday and another tranche today. Odds on Visa.

I'm twice bitten and tens of thousands poorer now I'm afraid... Bought into the XEL hype expecting like many a good RNS today. Now not sure even a takeover would recoup the losses I've made since the DES water RNS shenanigans... Think if I don't get away from oilies soon I'll lose my sanity as well as my money.., (Sorry for being so downbeat. Bad day...)

And another 9% rise as of midday today ! Who's buying these ??? More importantly, who's going to sub their next campaign ?? No one I know, that's for sure ! Surely 16.25/16.75 is the best entry point we're going to get for a short? Or is it ??

Is it just me, or has AIM gone mad... Des up over 9% ??!! Over the past few months I'm sure I could have made money betting the opposite of what I'd expect a sensible market to do !

Good evening and long time no see ! See gold is still creeping up there... Can't last forever though !! Pretty sure with the southern seas anything less than a commercial find will be disasterous... Although my margin's all tied up at the moment, I'm all ears, and can close some positions if you get any flashes of inspiration! Are you involved in the exciting one again? I'm still long there. My biggest long though is EO. I'm fairly convinced the t/o bid will be announced before the end of next month. Finding these equities very hard work at the moment. EO closed down after very good news from the most recent Cladhan appraisal !!
