This is a very high risk share be prepared to loose everything or get out.. but as they say in the lottery ...It could be you...are you feeling lucky???
After seeing the share rise from 24 to 50 it can be painful to see a bit of a dip in the short term... but one has to look at the origional long term plan... in my case long term growth and increasing dividend policy and 2nd dividend due later this year.
Im surprised to see people who think Lloyds share price will be directly linked to the opening of wider UK ecconomy with such massive gearing. For me of course Lloyds and most shares will benifit from the opening of the wider ecconomy but in a much more gentle fashion and limited price rise
This is the bit your Stockbroker warned you about and is in the small print.. Shares go down as well as up.. We are not due a report until the end of July... So unless we get some news in the interim period we will drift... dont forget we broke the 50p barrier but without further news were not going anywhere soon .. not a problem for long term holders like myself ... perhaps its a good time for the buy/sell position merchants ... but in my opinion nothing wrong with this share excellent prospects in the long term ... Still got an interim dividend due later in the year so its not all bad
The USA have never been short of oil and most of the population have been driving gas guzzlers since the invention of motor cars and for decades have been payin 50p a gallon or less. They have been importing oil for decades even though they have enormous oil reserves.. why? The Position has always been crystal clear in times of trouble or Oil runs out Texas and all the other hot spots (including Alaska) will keep the USA driving the gas guzzlers while the rest of the world goes without. But that was in the past the message is now Renewable energy
We reached 50p on the back of the information available so far
1) 0.57p Dividend
2) Progresive dividend policy
3) Cash reserves
4) 50p however is not a glass ceiling but seems to be a plateau or watershed
Personally l believe we have peaked in the short term.
We definately need an update and clarification but that wont happen until the next report at the end of July.
As some have already suggested looks like we will drift in no mans land until the next report or major positive or negative event in the real world
Covid was is the equivilent of a war situation with the NHS and Banks being the foot soldiers . If the banks gave billions to us shareholders when so many people had no money it would have been a PR disaster.
1) Were never going to get any of this money back
2) The dividend will be rebased at a lower rate that is now a given
3) The progressive dividend policy will increase year on year until the next disaster happens
4) will it be paid quarterly? will we get a special? absolutly no idea
Like many of you l found the Lloyds dividend to be a good source of income, but like anything else in life nothing is forever
Even Shell who held a top quarterly dividend for almost 50 years without reduction had to drastically reduce from 47c per quarter to around 17c ... it is a cold hard fact that Lloyds are going to rebase their dividend but on the pretext of a progressive dividend.. this is somthing we are all going to have to get used to and to some extent it reeks of "Jam tomorrow" but l for one believe it will be ok . Im my opinion this is a safe share that will start to slowly give share value again in the coming years.. For the DYOR brigade past results are not neccesarily a guide to the future. thats then and this is now but we cannot forget history because it has a habit of repeating itself
Just When you thought it was all over Duster Dave turns out the lights and all of a sudden he is Leap Frogged By Duster Joe AKA President Biden..... You dont think it will end with a few endangered seal colonies?? thats just the foot in the door ...
New Sources of energy is the message from Duster Joe..... But who knows Drilling may go on for a while yet.......As Clint Eastwood once famously said "Are you feeling Lucky?" not sure about the rest of you but personally im not
Clearly we are not talking about the odd comment
We seem to have reached a Plateau at 50p
On the Positive side its not turned out to be a Glass Ceiling but we have had a really good run from its lows of 23p.
l know people will argue that Historically and even now the share price is cheap but we need to look at the facts 0.57p Dividend . Pension funds buy for yield. Not our promise of a progressive dividend policy in the future. I think the next move Hopefully from 50-60p will depend on the next set of results and what the next dividend declaration will be. Sentiment , Broker Recomendations , and come on Horsey has pushed us towards the 50p winning post.... But were here now we have won the 50p race.. The big question is what next ?
This is a Lloyds Chat Board? Why dont people talk about Lloyds? Personally ive no interest in other subjects here im sure others feel the same
Na lol not today... Next Friday???????
seems like a healthy toe in the water forwards and backwards over the 50p line in my opinion thats promising .. Just as the Glass Ceiling of 40p is long gone with a bit of good news 50p may also soon be a distant memory... looking forward to the 60p glass ceiling
For those Who wish to talk about Lloyds Perhaps this may be a Glass Ceiling today with a momentary lapse into 50p territory
Perhaps this afternoon or next week will be better. I feel this may be a big Psycological barrier for many investors but with a good announcement 50p will end up in the distant past
Foxhound perhaps a quid is a little on the optomistic side .. We need serious humdinger facts and figures for such a price and at a dividend of 4 percent a quid means an 4p Dividend cant really see that to be honest
A Travelling Shoe Salesman can do the same job as Duster Dave with Glossy Presentations announcements and emails
at least you have real stock with Shoes .
2020 Divi is.... Gone With The Wind.... As Scarlett said "Tomorrow is another day"
in the morning?
Can Black Beauty Scrape together the last Half Penny Tomorrow ? me thinks to late today
Seems yesterday was more of a manure day at the stables followed by falling at the first fence.. We have all had a sleep since then and the sun is shining once again on black beauty with a slow trot towards the elusive 50p clearly it wont happen today unless they declare a 2p special but unfortunately that isnt going to happen. On the positive side 47p seems to hold a bit of resistance good news
