George Frangeskides, Chairman at ALBA, explains why the Pilbara Lithium option ‘was too good to miss’. Watch the video here.
Yep. It’s happening. Behind a paywall unfortunately:

MrA - indeed. But you can see why the tin foil hat brigade latch on to this sort of things as, on initial appearance, it might seem credible.
Anyhoo. A bit of an interesting diversion on an otherwise slow afternoon.
Just so we can get a better idea of where you’re coming from MrA, what did you think about what that gentleman standing in front of the board was saying? I can’t figure out your point otherwise… but I am a bit fik
It’s the public sector - what do you expect? Better to spend millions on paying accountants to trawl through public accounts to ensure no department is frittering money away on industry standard software when the rest of the sector are on Windows 2009…
Yep. Europe is reversing lockdown lifting measures - look no further than Holland.
This is a nasty, nasty virus. Human nature has dictated a strong inclination to adopt vaccines and try to return to ‘normal’ at the earliest opportunity. Given the choice of being able to do so, or for this stock to enjoy multiple bags on manufacturing / licensing deals for the LFT, I think I know which one I prefer…
The rhetoric and Covid sentiment, much like the SP, is a rollercoaster ride. One minute it’s all doom-and-gloom, the next it’s irreversible easing of lockdown restrictions.
Time will tell, but you don’t have to search very far to realise even double jabbed nations have not escaped the virus. Indonesia and the Far East are being punished by Delta.
Slowly, the world may have to come to the realisation that it is here for many seasons to come. What that will mean for our diagnostics side of the business and the SP is anyone’s guess!
… is the messaging coming from the Govt. More talk of lifting restrictions no longer being irreversible and emerging chat of more restrictions in winter.
Ever get the impression this lot haven’t a bleedin clue what they’re doing??
To say free tests will end is not quite true. Where will the capacity come for:
- The NHS
- Schools
- Government offices
- Any public sector institution
- Individuals who can’t take the vaccine
??
It’s all very well having people double jabbed, but we already know two jabs don’t protect all people from this virus. Data in Israel seems to point towards only a 60% protection rate.
From here, things could get interesting. Imagine you’re double jabbed and no longer have the option to WFH as we’re all told that is no longer possible. Rates are through the roof and people are getting ill. Some are getting very ill, potentially requiring hospitalisation.
One could argue this is as a result of the guidance issued by the government. The legalities and individuals’ rights and the responsibilities of employers become very unclear suddenly. The Govt has / will not provided an estimate on numbers of deaths / hospitalisations once we let it rip as it knows there will be a very strong challenge if those numbers prove unpalatable. It’s all a high stakes gamble at this point and there needs to be a Plan B if it all starts unravelling and people start taking the Govt to court.
Ergo the requirement for testing remains…
In the Commons just:
“This pandemic is far from over”
“soon begin a new chapter…”
On self-isolation:
“we will soon be able to take a risk based approach… from the 16th August… anyone who is a close contact of positive case will no longer have to self isolate… we’ll be drawing on the huge capacity we’ve built on testing and tracing”
The pandemic has demonstrated nothing can be taken for granted with this virus. A move away from testing and the capability to test would be incredibly naive. That’s the U.K. side of things.
I believe AS lost patience with U.K. Govt months ago, hence the CV in Europe. Most of the world is still at dire risk of further deadly waves and would gladly have access to our test. We know we are in discussions with overseas manufacturers and looking at tech transfer.
While the U.K. might be doing ok on the hospitalisation front, we’ve seen how quickly things change. To abandon the capability to test at this juncture would be reckless. This rollercoaster pandemic has a fair way to run yet
Cases of the wicked Delta varian rising exponentially in countries with low vaccination rates and low natural immunity due to previous containment measures. I wonder how far talks are with Asian manufacturers?

There is NO way out test doesn’t detect Delta. It’s just a matter of confirming it.
A friend of mine with *strong* Delta symptoms has just sent a screenshot of her Innova test - and it’s clearly a positive result. Test conducted one day post symptoms onset, for clarity.
