Why the recent dip ?????
Thank you Jarcon . Have had this one in past but sold couple of years ago . Always rated company highly but results today a worry . Tempted though.
A good entry point ? Any views ?
Time to top up ? Any views?
Topped up at 179 this morning but still puzzled by gyration of this share. I hold a fair number and have traded in and out successfully in last few years. Anyone have any insight ?
In for a top up tomorrow . Looking for 50 as trigger give or take a wee bit .
Top up today . Assume fall is a consequence of Punch situation . A great pub group with realistic expansion plans .
Not surprising , Any casual observation of behaviour in high st bookmakers reveals the devastation that can be caused by these machines . I have been involved on both sides of the counter and reform is overdue . If it were not for them , there would be fewer high st bookmakers . As a casual punter and investor in WMH that would be no bad thing .
My information is that divi not under threat yet . I agree about concerns on long term debt and this is without doubt a negative . However the quality of the product is without question . The demand for it another matter . I will keep adding as we go forward .
Topped up at 161 . Fingers crossed
Another top up for me tomorrow . Convinced this is over sold given all the data available .
Fill your boots. An over-reaction .
I am still buying but I too don't understand the gap. Are there no predatory active investing outfits lining it up ?
You make some interesting points in your post . I do not short term trade because I don't have enough information to make snap judgements , With Debs , remain a long termer based on belief that it is a good outfit . The stores are pleasant and busy . The strategy seems sound . Thus I have been buying steadily for years . I have sold only once and certainly did not make a profit . As you know , I have an interest in WMH and , given your analogy of backing a horse , I would extend that further by saying that punters in bookies are very quick to tell of great winning bets but more reluctant to recount big losers . Investors are the same . I have made some real " brulachs " over the years ......Invensys;Bank of Scotland;Punch:African Minerals ; NMT . However , in the main my steady eddies have bailed me out . Thanks for thought provoking and honest posts . It is refreshing to read honest opinions that do not insult fellow dabblers.
I have a modest position here but have been continuously pestered by what I assume are scammers purporting to be building a stake . Others being subjected to this ?
Has recovered well on currency changes . I am still buying on a monthly basis. Any views ?
I don't think the ethical issue is too huge a hurdle personally . I am more concerned about the potential for regulation based on the recognition by Treasury that this is indeed a lucrative source of revenue which can be disguised as moral concern . The proportion of betting shop revenue that derives from these machines is startling and I assume replicated on line . You are correct to identify this as the future but I worry about Government interference .
I think it had little chance of success at the level of valuation of Hill proposed. Still talk of a fresh bid but I think unlikely .The problem remains the online platform being outmoded . High street presence is good . They have pleasant ,well trained staff. Quite a contrast to my student employment as a settler in really awful bookies shops in east end of Glasgow . Problem is high street not the way forward even with most shop revenue deriving from FOBT . The allure of toilet facilities however a positive and has given me great consolation .
Regrettably , the middle management and junior management tiers affected here are being re-deployed and therefore redundancy arrangement does not apply . In terms of a re-structuring exercise , the strict contractual provisions will be adhered to ........ all management contracts will have the caveat in them to allow re-structuring . The issue can only be about adequacy of consultative process which is a statutory requirement and the avoidance of discrimination as defined in employment law . I am sorry to say that the colleagues affected are on a difficult wicket .
I still continue a steady if unspectacular top up here . Your view is reassuring liberalman.
