The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring Jeremy Skillington, CEO of Poolbeg Pharma has just been released. Listen here.
Agriculture is a very expensive business and the price of the final product is out of the producers hands. Their idea in Mozambique taking beef thru from breeding to retail selling is good. But it is slow. When the development in the Tete province is in full swing it could be lucrative. Also maize production, best crops produced with GM seeds but African countries, apart from SA will not import it. The other problem in Mozambique is the size of the hand out required by the provincial governor.
On the 24th of Aug. Andrew Groves announced an oil estimate of 2.7 bln barrels of oil in Ethiopia. He pushed up the price, then on the 3rd Oct AGTA announces that they have sold out the 20% share for (oil) peanuts! I wonder how much they, the board ,have invested in Tallow oil, Africa oil Marathon Ethiopia and Marathon oil corp. This southern Ethiopian - Kenya oil deposit is believed to be an extension of the Saudi oil fields and the development has the Saudis worried.
Most investors were in here for the GBP 4.00 per share now let down.Energy and capital had an article on the African oil gusher by Nick Hodge guess all have taken their pennies to Tullow oil. Knowing African agriculture as I do the directors probably invested in Tullow and then raised a few bucks to keep the agric side afloat. They need to re-look at their chosen cattle breed for Africa
Recently the ceo put a price of GBP4 plus on these shares when the oil was hit. NOW? Bet they have all covered themselves. One tipper I just read re great potential in Omo region and Kenya. May the curse of Africa be upon the board.
A one monitoring this share any idea on its wind up value. Many good patented products.
Does any one know if agta is involved in the Kenya oil drilling or just in the Ethiopian oil prospecting. On the agricultural side presumably any gains in the high maize price will go into development in west Africa. As for beef production Southern Africa is subject to a glut, cheap steak for us south of the Limpopo.
