@BBN there is another very logical explanation. Orders were possibly delayed because of the strike & processed & delivered much later when the market price was higher. We however would be committed to our contractual earlier price. I remember posters saying that the strike would result in sales at higher prices; not if we were committed. So a logical answer without discounts?
