The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring Jeremy Skillington, CEO of Poolbeg Pharma has just been released. Listen here.
Hi Stockraiser Fri 22:53,
much as I want to totally agree with what you say, there is one word that you have omitted.
As optimistic as I am, Been here too long & perhaps over cautious this time around. Nearly everything aligns & risk has been severely diminished but.....
"after which the Hickory-1 well is PLANNED to be cased and suspended".
Only if ?????
Best of Luck to ALL 88e Holders....Sincerely Hope this is OUR Time.

Hi All,
interesting piece on Twitter just now, from a well respected geology guy.

Keep the Faith, don't buckle under pressure.
I must admit, I keep finding a few extra ££££'s to buy a few more at these prices. Hope it won't end in tears.

Hi SG22 14:14,
a clip from a release, courtesy of NextInvestors, regarding the 88e Hickory RNS this morning:
Here is more on what we know so far:
Primary reservoir targets intersected - 88E has hit all three SMD (A/B/C) reservoirs. Reservoir thickness is consistent with 88E’s pre-drilling expectations. The reservoirs are shallower than expected pre-drill.
Oil shows identified - Elevated resistivity, indicating potential hydrocarbon pay across primary targets. Initial data suggests oil shows. Final pay figures to be determined by wireline logging/coring program (post drilling).
Presence of hydrocarbons confirmed - Drilling has so far indicated reservoir permeability, elevated mud gas readings and identified fluorescence under ultraviolet light in cuttings samples.
Strategy for the rest of the drilling gives us clues about the primary targets - 88E has decided against drilling down to the lower priority Kuparuk reservoir target citing “the results in the primary SMD targets, and to preserve borehole condition”.
This to us is a positive sign that 88E is satisfied with the results it has to date - but also likely because the drilling season is drawing to a close. If the results to date were poor then we would have likely seen 88E continue drilling into that lower priority target.
All in all - so far so good for 88E, with no operational issues encountered and drilling progressing on time.
Hope this answers your question SG.
Good Luck to All 88e Holders

Hi Phron, good to see you tickling the keypad again
from the 2017 ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE
YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2016
Project Icewine has both unconventional and conventional oil potential and is located on an all year-round operational access road. The exploration program at Project Icewine during 2016 was twofold; firstly, to de-risk and progress evaluation of the unconventional HRZ shale play and secondly to develop a conventional prospectivity portfolio across the acreage.
The Icewine#1 pilot well was drilled to core and evaluate the HRZ unconventional shale play. The well was spudded on October 22, 2015 and achieved all primary unconventional objectives, de-risked the HRZ shale play, and came in on budget. The well was plugged and abandoned as planned on January 2, 2016
I thought I had seen something with a surprising spud date. We are using the same access road at Hickory I believe.
Glad to see you back.

Hi All,
take a look at the link whilst we are waiting for the next RNS. Didn't realise this casing business was quite as straightforward as the article suggests.
https://www.thedriller.com/articles/91049-tips-for-running-cementing-casing-on-drilling-jobs
We really need a pretty positive RNS to gee this up this year.
This is torture!
Best of luck to All who are IN

Hi Guys,
a little something you may like to peruse over the weekend.
All in my own opinion.
Enjoy.

Icewine 1 and 2 (88 Energy) were designed and drilled to test a deep unconventional exploration play
Positive drilling results within the shallower Brookian reservoirs (SMD) reservoir play, shown right) were effectively overlooked or over-ridden.
The HRZ was the Headline Act back in 2015, unconventional, not conventional oil. SMD was put on the back burner for a later visit. But now, we are back.
SMD: Oil shows at Icewine 1 and 2

Importantly, the Hickory-1 well has been significantly de-risked by the recent drilling and flow tests carried out on the adjacent acreage by Pantheon Resources, as well as data from the Icewine-1 well logs and the modern FB3D data set.”

from 7 days ago — Drilling of the Hickory-1 exploration well has commenced. ... Initial surface hole to be drilled to ~3,500 feet, cased and BOP system tested.
If I’m not mistaken, SMD C, B & A appear to be ~3500 ft, or ~1/3 of the TD (Total Depth).
We are drilling down to that depth & then casing & blow testing.
SMD is potentially, our No #1 target.
Daily drilling around 425 ft per day, we have been drilling for 7 days. 425 x 7 = 2975 ft.
We are either casing just above SMD or into it.
Previously we drilled Merlin 2 down to ~2020 before casing & testing. Hickory is 50% deeper, so increased period required to case & BOP test.
Will casing & testing take 7 days?
Something to mull over, this weekend.
Any specialists to give an indication of timeframe for casing etc?

Hi All,
Why are we back again?
7+ years since Icewine 1
All year-round operating conditions
https://smallcaps.com.au/88-energy-project-icewine-update/
https://www.asx.com.au/asxpdf/20170216/pdf/43g1v3f8fnrpk0.pdf
Perhaps too much focus on HRZ Unconventional
Perhaps we should have gone back sooner.
We'll know for sure sometime in the next 12 months, but hopefully, a major, positive indicator in the next few weeks.
The oil is there, just needs to economical to extract.
Good Luck & Best Wishes to All 88e'ers

Hi All,
Not Much Traffic on here today Guys.
Regarding the Acreage Update from 88e, for the Phoenix Project, you might like to have a read of the article, courtesy of NextInvestors, who have a substantial holding with the Company.
https://nextinvestors.com/articles/88es-drilling-has-begun/?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=WKND-20230311&utm_content=WKND-20230311+CID_8cb99e3d5f5b6566b418ce7749b90cbd&utm_source=Email%20CM&utm_term=88E%20%20EEENF%20Drilling%20underway
The piece of interest, starts like this; Acreage Update for Project Phoenix Last week 88E also put out an update on the status of its Project Phoenix acreage. The Alaskan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) approved a “unit application” for the company’s leases covering the central and western areas of Project Phoenix.
We have never been in this position, where; “a project area is to be considered for “unitisation”, the department typically considers whether a particular area has the potential to host an oil and/or gas project.“
Any thoughts on that fellow LTH’s

Hey WAussie, I'm good mate, thank you, pleased that you're OK & plenty of work; that's always a good thing. Keeps us off B Boards
Are you still in?
It felt like this 88easty got under your skin last year.
Hope you're rearing to go this time around.
Welcome Back.

Hi Mr Musk15, you are a calming influence.
Mr Musk you are a warm subtle scent defined by a complex range of powdery, sweet, woodsy and earthy aroma impressions. Fruity or floral undertones can also be detected depending on the musk.
Too many of our new brethren getting over excited.
Keep in Caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalm
Thank You.

Hi Neversatisfied 00:40, "the unconventional play the hrz which he always said was possibly the kitchen for all this oil." Makes good sense I suppose, as the HRZ was there before anything else. Back then in 2015, possibly not the right time to be fracking from a vertical drill but now we see drilling down & then turning right or left & horizontal drilling, including fracking. We were perhaps there too early.
Enjoy the link below, courtesy of The West Australian, more support for nearology, a word I have to keep adding to the dictionary,

Hi Brom 18:08, long time no chat, hope you are keeping well.
We think alike on this one but;
Hindsight is the ability to understand and realise something about an event after it has happened, although you did not understand or realise it at the time.
88 Energy and its partner Burgundy Xploration, led by fracking-on-the-Eagle Ford-pioneer Paul Basinski, believed there was huge untapped potential there on Alaska’s North Slope.
The well would be a vertical pilot hole with the primary objective being the Hue/HRZ shale (contained within the Brookian sequence).
The Hue/HRZ shales compare favourably with other established US shale plays, based on the key (unconventional) success factors.
The entry of Otto Energy (ASX:OEL) into the region should also be viewed as positive
Great Bear Petroleum together with partners Haliburton and now Otto hold 579,374 gross acres
Nearology is the idea that the exploration ground (where a company is looking for minerals) is in close proximity to a discovery made by another company
The asset was bordered by an already-established hydrocarbon province in the Great Bear acreage of privately owned Great Bear Petroleum, immediately to the north of Project Icewine.
Great Bear had drilled three wells and collected 1800-square kilometres of 3D seismic.
The company (88e) believed the data was promising in terms of finding hydrocarbons
The Alkaid #1 well, spud in February this year (2015), was targeting both conventional and unconventional reserves in the Shublik and Kingak formations. A successful outcome from Alkaid #1 would obviously be positive for 88.
Great Bear planned to drill a further two wells in early 2016.
What If; Paul Basinski had not “discovered Eagle Ford, but 88e & Burgundy simply went to Alaska looking for conventional plays. They may have struck it lucky 1st time out. They went through the 2 conventional plays we are about to go through again very soon, but their focus was on HRZ.
Icewine #2 could have been the appraisal well.
What If, What If ??

Déjà vu is a false sense of familiarity, when Your brain creates a sensation as if you have lived a certain situation before, but you're unable to retrieve it from your memory and cannot identify the actual situation.
Hi All, please take a look at the link below, Courtesy of Proactive Investors:

Who can recall how excited we all were when Icewine 1 was about to spud. Here we are, 8 years later, just a few miles from where it all began & ready to spud again.
We've travelled all over the North Slope, trying, exploring & feeling the buzz & bust each year since then.
I'm a great believer in cycles, but obviously not so optimistic as I used to be, with all of the disappointments we've all shared.
Might this be the one; who knows?
Still in & still nervously excited.
Good Luck to US ALL.

Hi Gffy, exactly that buddy, knowing what we should do but not executing Plan A.
It appears we are out of the same mould buddy. Seriously, going to extract the book cost, so that it owes me nothing & let the rest ride. I had the chance 2 years ago, with the EEENf bounce, but the greedy demon wouldn't let me push the button,
Just hoping for a 2nd opportunity this time around & hopefully a lot wiser.
