On the LBC radio station earlier, they were speculating that Boris Johnson is sensing a leadership challenge within the next few months, and made his Burka comment based on that. I used to like him, now I just think he's the same as the majority of politicians, out for themselves.
If he really did have a problem with the symbolisation the Burka makes (not wanting to integrate) the real courage would have been saying he thinks it should be banned like France, Belguim, Austria, Denmark, The Netherlands and Bulgaria has already done (Denmark with clever wording).
But instead he doesn't want it banned, and just made a comment about how silly they look. That to me is a career politician trying to appeal to a wide range of people, rather than having a strong point showing he has principle. If he ends of up Tory leader he won't entice me back to the Conservatives with my vote.
I'll be voting for a party that leave no doubt what they think about Islam.
