Dow, S&P, Dax and Cac40 all taking a fair hit, but the FTSE taking less of a hit. I wonder why that is... maybe it's the vote tomorrow, if the markets think the UK won't properly leave the EU... Any ideas?

I hope it does collapse within 24 months, it's going to collapse at some point.. would rather it didn't drag on. I'll be keeping an eye on BBC Parliament live tomorrow to see if the first nail in the democratic coffin is hammered in.

He won't be able to implement every thing though, a lot of what he said he would do is dependent on other people agreeing it. No doubt he will use executive orders if they don't so he can overrule congress, but congress can then challenge the order in the supreme court which they tried to do over the Muslim immigration ban

Well if he gets his way with the wall that will certain show a demand for materials lol. The leftist media are currently painting a picture of Donald Trump the big bad Ogre who's separating children from their parents at the border. And it's true has made this happen, but I don't think it's for any pleasure on upsetting children. He's doing it because there's a constant flow of illegal immigrants hoping the border into America. He wants the democrats to agree his wall they're not doing it, so instead of a wall stopping most of them coming in, he's having the border force do it until the democrats come to the table. I read that on infrastructure they don't expect the bill to be tabled until after the November elections, with it probably taking until next year to be agreed. I'm not sure why there's a delay, maybe it's because he's working on so many other thing simultaneously. A lot of people call him a liar, a fraud, a misogynist... pretty much every name under the sun... and maybe he's some of these things... but one thing I've noticed is pretty much everything he's promised he's been trying to implement. Not defending his personality, just the promises he's made and whether or not he's doing it.

Vengor, no one knows... And I could be wrong. But I think it's logical to assume that Trump will likely hit both the EU and Canada with more tariffs when they kick in. He's already talking about another $200 Billion of tariffs against China after China announced they would match the most recent US tariffs by value. So why wouldn't he do the same with the EU and Canada? He's basically turning the screws to see who breaks first.

I watched it, and agree with the points it makes, it's a good video. I think Poland will eventually leave the EU, but unless the Stay/Leave question is asked they will probably continue with bad relations with the EU until the EU p*sses them off enough. They're scared of Russia, and so they should be. So they will want the protection the EU would offer if Russia tried to invade. I know the USA protects Poland somewhat in return for strategic missile sites and in that video there's talks of a permanent military base... but the EU would offer greater protection I think. So it will probably take disagreements over Polish law Supremacy to get Poland to leave, which of course this referendum could cause.

Uk Laws made in Brussels, not the UK* I mean

I didn't know about the Poland referendum. Just read about it, I see it states there will be 15 questions asked, one of which is if "the primacy of the Polish constitution over international and European law should be guaranteed." I know the EU won't budge on having control of most of the laws made over the 28 members states, which is why more than 90% of the UK's laws are now made in Brussels, not the EU. So if the Polish vote in favour of the above that could cause some problems with the EU. I know the Polish are fiercely against immigration from a certain religious group, and uncontrolled immigration in general, so a lot of them must be starting to think the EU is no use to them. But at the same time, they are one of the main countries to benefit from the open borders as they can flood into richer countries with more job opportunities. As it stands right now I don't think Poland would have the appetite to leave the EU. But with the following ingredients they would be up for it... 1. The country votes in favour of Polish law supremacy over the EU. 2. The EU rejects this and they start fighting over it. 3. The EU continues to take in relentless numbers of migrants.

Yeah I don't understand HS2 either. Virtual working is far more cost effective as it cuts travel costs... but it also cuts other costs like rents and maintenance of a building if less people need to be there, the wife runs a big operation. She says it's cheaper per head to do that than fully kit out a desk too. Birmingham is a sh*t hole been there many times, feel unsafe walking around the city center. They'd have been better investing in Broadband infrastructure for less, and also funding the NHS more. If Brexit is overturned, even by another referendum politics won't be the same in this country for a generation. There will be constant protest voting, hung parliaments, unstable governments and divide in the country.

I think the government senses that they might lose this vote, and there could be a general election. It's rather strange that out of the Blue the NHS is suddenly getting more funding.

The unelected Lords are sending the "Meaningful vote" amendment back to Parliament. This was the amendment that Theresa May tried to do a deal with the undemocratic Tory Rebels over. 1. If this amendment is voted for Parliament will be able to say no to any deal (or no deal) negotiated with the EU. 2. It's common sense that the EU would then give us a bad deal so that parliament say no to it. 3. More than likely there would then be a second referendum so that the country has to vote for a bad deal or no deal. 4. All of this has been carefully engineered by Gina Miller, and the unelected Lords and Undemocratic MP's. 5. Theresa May randomly, out of the blue announces more funding for the NHS near the time of the Lords vote to send the meaningful vote amendment back to parliament. William Hague is even talking about legalising Canabis for both medicinal and recreational use. Some thing that the government believes they may lose the vote on Wednesday, which would obviously mean the governments hands are completely tied when negotiating so the EU would just give us a bad deal, parliament votes no to it and a referendum gets called on the bad deal or no deal so the British people vote to remain again. If that happens I hope it backfires on them badly, but it's hard to see that happening given that they will have done everything possible to leave the British people with no choice. I just hope the two main established parties get decimated in the future if the above happens.

The UK has a lefty pretending to be a Conservative for Prime Minister. If the Tories don't get rid of Theresa May before the 2022 general election (assuming Brexit doesn't claim her sooner) there's the very real prospect of a Corbyn government despite his abysmal approval rating in the recent YouGov polls. Corbyn and McDonnell are Marxists... they want the state to own everything, they want to tax the rich to the extremes, they will literally sink the UK if they have enough seats to support them in government... A Corbyn government is far worse than anything we may lose leaving the EU. And no I'm not a Tory voter either... at least not with TM as PM I can't vote for her. Disingenuous, weak, can't make a decision and supports remain. How on earth we have a remain voter to take us through Brexit negotiations I have no idea. I'll probably be forced to vote UKIP or For Britain despite our pathetic first past the post system meaning my vote doesn't count. Case in point... UKIP got nearly 4 Million votes in the 2010 GE but only got 1 seat. The SNP got less than that and got 56 seats. That's how ludicrous our first past the post system really is. UKIP should have had 90 seats. So we're stuck with the two established parties that are simply no longer fit for purpose. I think I'll see a revolution in my lifetime.

Actually got mixed up with Germany, it's the Christian Social Union party that's fighting with her... they want police to have the power to turn away undocumented migrants at the border. The reason the CSU party are fighting with her over this is because they have elections in Bavaria in October and they think the AFD (Right wing, anti immigrant) pose a serious threat to them. So they are pretending to care about uncontrolled immigration so they can try and hoodwink their voters into not voting AFD.

Merkel, Makron, Trudeau and Emperor Junker are unlikely to back down... and neither is Trump so this could easily escalate. If they back down I'll be shocked. But like RDR says there's a chance Merkel is on her way out, that might help somewhat, but I don't think so if Junker is still around.

China is a big buyer of US debt, basically the USA issues treasury bonds.. they pay an interest rate, anyone is free to buy and sell them including big banks and countries. When they're bought that gives the USA the money it needs to operate, I'm sure there's other ways I'm not that clued up on it. But 21 Trillion is 21 thousand Billion. Each billion has a thousand million in it... that's some serious money. Cutting the trade deficits between the USA and other countries is a minimum, not the answer to their problems. So I can't see the USA backing down with someone like Trump as president, someone else will need to back down first.

dent* The problem is, this is about more than trade deficits. With the EU and Canada for example. The top leaders are leftists, and trump is right wing. So there will be no love lost between the two sides in the first place... which could make negotiating harder.

He's tried negotiating, that didn't work... so aggressive measures it has to be. With trade deficit's like the USA has, there's no chance of making a reasonable debt in that $21 Trillion Debt. So it seems that either China, the EU, Canada etc start coming to an agreement or it will escalate into something a lot bigger.
