I like what Narendra Modi did with the Black Money, I might not get this fully accurate. But my mate said he basically made all the 1000 Rupee notes obsolete to stop the flow of Black money. And then created 200 IRN notes instead?
My mate said in India if you want to buy a property a portion of the property price goes through in cash (off the books) he said pretty much everyone does it. That means there's money not accounted for flowing around in the "black economy"... money that's not taxed, and not kept in a bank. That means both the government doesn't get it's cut and the banks lose out on cash reserves that they could be lending to businesses.
Anyway, for practical reasons most of this black money tends to be in bigger notes like 1000 Rupees. Modi decided to make them all obsolete by a given date, so people had to pay the money into the bank or risk losing it. I think that shows him to be the least corrupt of Indian officials, I have a lot of respect for the guy. My mate says he's got no kids, and just wants to leave a good legacy
And yeah, of all my Indian friends... none of them like people from a certain religious persuasion. In fact the Sikh's are very distrusting of them and with good reason. That's nothing to do with race... a religious belief is exactly that, a belief. It's not exclusive to any one race, absolutely anyone of any race can practice it. It's the belief itself that I personally don't like having looked into it.
But in real life, I take people as I find them. I'm more distrusting of people of said religious persuasion. But I wouldn't treat them any differently to anyone else, as I know they're not all bad people. I even know of one who practices, but told me he's an Atheist. He said the only reason he can't state his true beliefs is because he would be disowned by his family and cast out of his community. If that's not another example of how extreme the belief is, I don't know what is.
