Iraqi Oil Ministry to Epicur and Natural Resources: We will meet on Tuesday to discus the contracts.

The Iraqi Oil Ministry has asked Epicur and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to send a delegation to Baghdad on Tuesday.

The Iraqi Oil Ministry invited foreign companies that have contracts with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to develop oil fields in the Kurdistan Region, as well as the Ministry of Natural Resources to attend Baghdad on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the three sides will meet to discuss issues related to the contracts; Their meeting is aimed at reaching an understanding that will serve to develop oil fields in the best possible way and in a manner that serves national interests.

Although the Iraqi Oil Ministry announced on Friday that it would resume oil exports within hours, eight oil producing companies in the Kurdistan Region have refused to export oil until an agreement is reached to pay their financial entitlements.

I'd believe this statement more than Ghani and co saying next week, if Barzani is saying it's progressing to open and gives a timeline, then that's a big affirmation IMO, he's not going to stick his neck out that far.

Nechirvan Barzani: I expect oil exports to resume in March

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has said that oil exports are likely to resume "next month", another optimism after nearly two years of oil stagnation and economic losses of $ 24 billion.

On Sunday 16-02-2025, in an interview with Bloomberg; Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) President Nechirvan Barzani said he intends to discuss the oil issue with Turkish officials in Erbil in the coming days. This could be a roadmap for reopening oil exports, although he said further negotiations with Baghdad would determine how much oil would be allocated for domestic consumption.

"Now everything is ready for us to export our oil. We expect to resume oil exports by the end of March," he said.

Iraqi President Latif Rashid has approved the budget amendment raising the KRG oil production cost to $16 per barrel. The law is set to take effect upon its publication in the Iraqi Gazette tomorrow.

Kurdistan President Nechirvan Barzani told Bloomberg today that KRG oil exports are expected to resume next month. He added that he will discuss the issue further with Turkish officials in Erbil in the coming days.

While the budget requires the KRG to either export its oil through SOMO or transfer 300,000 barrels per day to the Iraqi government, Barzani stated that further negotiations with Baghdad will determine how much will be allocated for domestic consumption and how much will be exported.
