i agree which was kind of my point! if shares on loan are allowed to be returned before ex div date without dividend penalty ( i guess it would depend on the contract ) then it would seem reasonable to presume any shorts will be closed ie shares bought back in order to be returned ??? Just ruminating is all. Be it cfd's or actual short trades i was just highlighting that in my view that a sell position this close to ex div date,would be brave and some would say foolhardy. Thats all lets call it thinking out loud. gla

Seems a bit harsh ! One would think they are 1. fully loaded...2. know that any sub 3p genuine price will be hoovered up but at the same time any offer over 3.25 seems to be enough to temp a few ?? Seems the seesaw has found its balance point until something tips it one way or another perhaps ??

cant divi chase the day before unless its a rising share that may be true however four weeks ago 190 high couple of weeks ago 2.05 thats 15p because divi was coming !!! and then ex divi drop today so for a 4 weEk investment of 3k in four weeks you would have either 236 gain or 173 divi with share @ or slightly above the current sp... thats 6 to 8 % or 2% ish per week ??? sounds pretty good to me :) Oh and then there are those times when the share shrugs off ex divi drop and you get a double whammy. Then there is soco international, 3 weeks ago 1.07 rose to 1.22 paid %5 divi and currently @ 1.11 so divi chasing very often pays off if done right :)

do you really think the three visitors a day on here can influence the massive beast that is vodafone's sp ? ftse 100 tracker funds,divi funds,pension funds institutional investors and around about now divi chasers will decide the sp direction methinks.Best we can do is try to predict and hop on board accordingly :)

probably but the unknown factor and the one keeping everyone honest is the identity of the major :) that news leaks, which, having just provided goodness knows how many annalists working for goodness knows how many investors with that little nugget makes a leak all the more likely! So that breaks we will see a spike,and obviously the big one being an rns with an offer. The fun thing is were it not for the secret "major" or " super major" i think we would be around 2.6 after the placing, but most realize that the identity could leak anytime and so more are holding. All imho and amateur opinion obviously.
