noise and vibration and pretty much indicate an event ie bearing failure, gearbox wear once the degredation is well underway. The actual breakdown of componets detection can or could be masked by nartural noise and vibrations of rotational kit and surroundings .
As I understand, the concept of Gyro's IME , this device would be far more acuarate and pin point wear and tear of shaft bearings / drive trains and gear boxes well in advance of conventional Vibration monitoring currently on the market. That's my thinking. To this effect though I don't see Gyro's IME as a replacment to conventional Vibration monitoring but as a complement.
What RMS don't provide ( and I,m guessing they don't want to divulge their tech until patented are any schematics or Dwgs etc
It would be a pretty simple task though to hook up their kit using simple remote I/O ( without getting too technical here ) to an existing Wind farm Control room , even to encorparate into existing Control room Software SCADA systems for monitoring of wind farm grids.
The bottom line here is that if a Wind farm operator / supplier can gain an advantage over current tech for predictive failures they are unlikely to dismiss it. Understand here that should a break down occur then there is a double whammy for the operator
- The cost of repair ie , manning, vessels, especially so if major breakdown and damage.
- Loss of revenue
If the tech that RMS have can identify shaft diveation / wear more acuratly and make a planned intervention around a weather window more efficient then they are onto a winner here.
Think of it like this a simple Shaft bearing failure could lead to destruction of a major component part gearbox , drivetrains , generators etc. If Gyros tech can identify the actual start point of shaft movement well in advance of current Vibration monitoring tech and intervine for the price of a bearing/ compared to possible major component breakdown then they are onto a winner.
The major consideration here however is 'IF' That is literally the Million Dollar Question.
I,m more than willing to take an investment in RMS especially at these levels but in no way want to influence others to do the same. DYOR in AIM there is always a chance of placings and indeed companies becoming insolvent.
The above of course does not take into account Geocurve which is generating revenue which can only be a good thing. For me the Gyrometrics is what took my interest many months ago.
