The market isn’t committing much right now. Ahead of the last meeting we saw brief spikes to 60p then down again. But the overall market is much higher is 60p is an underperformance against the broader market and the sector.

Previously we saw 20-40% jumps on hopeful news so for a meaningful jump on Monday (anything above 65p) some concrete news on the sticking points and the red lines need to be clear. Last time the Putin Trump stuff was very positive but then once others were brought in it was back to square one. I think we close today around 58p as overall it’s a red market and then Monday 62-65 is possible on very good news.

55-56p seems possible on opening the likely fade back. Still a long way off. Polymarket odds of ceasefire by end of this year did jump up but still only 18%.

And down we go. Unfortunately we are much more likely to see 30s before 60s.

Let’s check at the close, these patterns seem easy to predict of late.

40s today. Not a good update

Unsurprisingly the market is betting lower and a negative update.

Which way does the market place its bets today ahead of Monday? Close above 55p yesterday but no appetite to get above 57p this week.

I’m also worried this is an unscheduled trading statement, the production report was due on 7th Oct which is the following day. So brace yourselves!

I’d like to think so, but with a 30% lift of the lows from August if the trading update evening slightly disappoints that 10p straight off the SP. Any further drop in production will be a concern, interested to see how the iron ore revenue is playing out which helped last time around.

And yet another fail. Lower low and lower high vs yesterday poor sign for the rest of the week.

Yet another attempt at 55p!

Very low volume, very small spread! Big move going to come, but which way….

Keen to watch the next few hours, broke above 56.5 but then quickly down to 54.5 but then a nice bounce back above 55. Encouraging if 55p holds now.

Test and hold of 54 this morning and we could well be on our way back to 60 early next week.

If 54 doesn’t hold 51-52 range and another test of 50 on the cards. Iron ore price is acting as support for sure.
