Thats because you cant - your figures are wrong and you are making yourself look foolish, you state that Tesco's total indebtedness is 16,673 million, it is not it is actually around £39bn. Its total assets are around £46bn and when adjusted it has around £8.6 bn of net assets. The Market value of around 15,282 million is irrelevant and if you knew anything about figures you would know that the MC fluctuates according to the SP so if Tesco's price would go through the ceiling in the event of a sale mainly because it would have to be an aggressive takeover which would not happen but safe to say around 5 - 10 times current valuations !

See the existing troll and a new one are back basing there research on un knowns relating to the pension deficit- still never mind d'ici on the horizon and the deal with booker to be announced late this year in whatever form it takes. Spececake - that was actually a very informative post with some incisive points. You may have guessed that I am not a postie but neither am I a till operative at Tesco which I am also invested in. In virtually all cases middle management control i.e. Costs run hand in hand with othe cost controls and in most cases it could it could be argued that over time you end up with more chiefs than Indians. As for performance related pay i.e. Bonuses I do believe that this works especially for the BOD perhaps the part time Moyà should reduce her pay along with the other members of the BOD in favour of targeted related pay linked to return on investment etc. Mad is a true example of the dying union influence of the 70's and thank goodness for that. Times change but I will be honest and say my investment in RMG is related to Dividends and SP uplift. I will leave the running of the company to those that are paid a lot of money to achieve results. In any event good luck and I hope the industrial action is over asap as it only ultimately harms all parties.

Mad: Get rid of 1970' attitudes and old style union work practices, automate and update where possible and practical, reduce pension costs and increase employee contribution to the pension given that people will live longer and the pension is unsustainable in its current form, cut overheads where possible including bonuses and pay for the BOD and make it a results oriented culture from management down, in otherwords drag à tired out of date company into the 21'st century. Will that do for now??

Spacecake - tell you what, I believe the ballet will be voted through by an overwhelming majority to strike. I think that it will be a vitriolic battle which after many weeks of argument a deal will be done and all the hot air in the world will not really change much. Good luck on your strike and it is good to hear that you are a genuine shareholder. Maybe you and yours will achieve a change of management but I doubt it but we will see.

Lucky punter - I only reply to the abuse posted by them and the attitude they take. They are using this BB as a voice for there union gripes. They have no concern for any shareholder here and would happily see hard working people like me and other investors suffer to feed there own personal ends.
