I have a close family member who is a fund manager for JP Morgan, he personally owns over 100 stocks in his personal portfolio, not sure if he holds GGP, if he does then even if it went wrong he would still have over 100 other stocks to leverage the loss, I dare not tell him that I'm all in here, he advised me to sell Sirius on a number of occasions whn I was well in profit "they will struggle to get the money" he said 2 years before it turned out that they indeed struggled to get the money, I know I should have listened but I was a fool basically so now need this to do something special to at least recoup my losses here otherwise I will forever look like a mug for ignoring the advice of someone who actually understands the stock market, I'm thinking if I can at least recoup the losses then I won't be a complete failure, not sure why I thought I knew better than him, guess I was maybe brainwashed to a certain extent through the 6 years which 4 and a half were fine and the last year and a half was absolute hell. Would like to say lesson learnt, I have learnt some things I guess but the fact that Iv'e gone 'all in' here with my remaining life savings suggests that I'm still too much of a risk taker. I'l tell him if I manage to get up to 200 % or something, if that happens.

See what you mean Dutch, I just have visions of a 50 % spike knowing my luck, maybe it's best to see how things play out between now and just before April 1st as if in theory everything stays around these levels then I can still proceed with the transfer then can't I or if there is a large increase I could sell £20000 worth and put them in an isa and then after the 1st April I will still have the option of putting another £20000 in in that next 12 month period.

Can anyone here who has done this with HL give any idea of how long it takes for holding to be transferred from fund and share account into isa? could be quite a nervy wait watching the sp movement whilst you arnt invested?

Yes, obviously will have less shares and will have £1800 of money that I wouldn't be able to add to the isa until April 1st

If i open the isa tomorrow then in theory I should be able to sell my holding in my fund and share account then do I just get a quote and buy like I do through my fund and share account or is a different dynamic when transferring to an isa? wouldn't want to be waiting days for the transfer and it's not inconceivable that there could be a 50 % rise very quickly in a stock like this, not saying it would happen but obviously that wouldn't turn out to be a smart move if I end up with much less shares that I currently have.

Also would I need to make sure that I just have say £100 in the account at all time to cover fees for the year? I'm presuming that would cover all fees for the year? it says something like the charges go up dependant on the value of the holding but said something about the fees are capped at £45 per year? so does that mean whatever my holding is worth even if it was many many times todays price that I would only ever pay maximum £45 in isa fees every year?

So basically I open the isa, just looked that up and seems quite straight forward, then I will have to sell my holding in GGP then buy them back in the isa? so as things stand I will then have a higher average (current average 3.77) but obviously will have more money in there so that will counteract against having a higher average then before as I'm currently 23.08 % up so current holding value is £21,803.42, if I open the isa now then if I sell my holding tomorrow then I will be able to buy straight away into the isa? only asking as obviously this share can be very volatile as we saw today so don't want to end up with less shares then I currently have (465,885)

So really everyone who is investing under £20,000 in a one year period here should have it invested in a stocks and shares isa? is it literally a no brainier? I mean are there any downsides?

I know I should Dutch, I haven't at this point, I've just bought 465,817 shares overall and that are just in my normal HL account, I know I should transfer them to an isa but the only thing is the time between selling and getting them set up in the isa in theory you could end up with less shares but I take your point that having them in an isa would make much more sense as then any profit wouldn't be liable for CGT.

Yes Sir, I do hope so, I did mean a used one, so require around £80,000, then there are the costs associated with the running costs, the cost of a service is pretty shocking to me but you know it's never going to be cheap owning and running these types of cars. long way to go but it's always good to have a target in mind, keeps you focused on the ultimate goal so that days like today don't impact too much mentally as like I say the important sp is in 1-3 years time from now.

Newcrest can swoop in but they will have to offer a fair offer price, I'm not sure what a fair takeover share offer would be by the end of this year, presumably minimum 50/60p but then it depends what news is released between now and the end of this year.

Anyway I'm happy to hold as long as it takes, seems like we are looking at a 1-3 year time scale for true value to be realised here, have been researching Mclarens quite extensively recently so am hoping that at some point within the next 1-3 years one will finally be sitting on my drive so at least I will have something to show for my patience here.
