MCRO deserved to be de-rated (the HPE transaction was a shocker), and shorters greatly shortened the time during which it was terrible investment...shorters also helped to change and improve management

not least because most PIs cannot stand listening to contrary POV (and that's why they tend to lose)

in general, shorters are essential part of capitalist ecosystem

most fund managers are clueless/bullish (and PIs are even worse)...without shorters, share would be hopelessly mispriced , management left to do whatever and capital misallocated
