lots in yr 2 posts..which is usual..good dense stuff ....I'll stick to the big narrative: lukewarm towards capitalism...it's an expression of neither the worst nor noblest of humanity's mixed bag of characteristics.. ....of course it really depends on the type of capitalism...neither total laissez faire nor hyper managed are workable.. ...my focus is on governance and accountability, and reckon that early 21st C anglo saxon liberal capitalism is strewn with / mired by error, much centred on lack of accountability of senior management...think bankers thro to ceo of gbo ...changing the scope and responsiveness of audit would be a start..the auditors should be responding to owners' natural interest in / abiding concern with what the h*ll is going on..not the directors (who know full well lol)

shd persist at least until audits are properly forensic and conducted on behalf of owners not the bod ...the mismatch between agents and owners is centuries old and as far from resolution as ever ..it matters, but is not being remedied cos insiders rule (so we have a bizarre, dysfunction capitalism dominated by insiders/management...running companies in the name of shareholder value creation) ... you have to accept the ingrained risk as dumb money (or use your capital to set up yr own company and run it/govern it as you see fit)

done next to no dd here or elsewhere...and this has SK to boot (how would you dd that at reasonable expense?????) ...I have no answer to the dd challenge...just questions ...my pf is so cash and property heavy, I can fortunately survive wipeout of my whole equity pf (not keen on that outcome, mind lol) ...and are all listed companies frauds? History offers some comfort, but in these degenerate times who knows?

yes, here and rgs suffer from weak fcf...and rgs has defied gravity...so far lol ...pe is not the most convincing of metrics cos it is directors in charge of deciding what is expensed and what is capitalised...as well as plenty of discretion about revenue recognition (cf STAR for extreme example) ...it boils down to faith/trust in JH (I have much more confidence in Peacock over at rgs...just wonder how close hanover are to exit) ..gl

pe is not the most convincing of metrics...if much of the earnings is "invested" or spent ....somewhere c20p may offer temporary support, but a change in ceo should be discussed by non execs / substantial shareholders imv

tell me what constitutes yr significant red flags and I might be able to oblige ...qpp, gbo and here all had weak fcf...is that a red flag? ...but the bigger / more alarming point is that the numbers that generate all metrics even cash are to a significant extent at the discretion of directors...they seem to be able to show a set of figure to auditors and say these are correct go to it...but what if the figures are skillfully skewed???? Seems bizarrely trusting of auditors not to question the figures presented to them in forensic depth on behalf of the owners ...it seems (and seems a huge flaw in the system) that auditors cannot protect us (at least as currently organised) from directors intent on misdirection (why auditors don't interrogate accounts more is bizarre and a huge flaw imv...perhaps it is a quaint notion that they are reporting to the bod not the owners)

all trading/investing in listed companies suffers from the lack of dd... ...but small foreign companies are orders of magnitude more risky cos none of us punters have an opportunity to get under the skin of the business and management is thousands of miles away and can "sail off" laughing... with ease ...check out gbo or any of the the chinese companies listed on aim if in any doubt

owns c250k*£0.04=c£10k....not sure I'd give a huge amount of weight to that lol ...wd need to be 20-50 times that much for serious skin in the game imv

good post... ...the trouble is the accounts you have seen are the audited accounts... not detailed month by month management accounts...and you haven't had the opportunity to conduct random forensic dd of these numbers...have you met with televisa? ...essentially you are taking the directors' word ..gl
